Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for forming a color image and a projection system are provided, which obtains a rising time and a falling time to process an image by forming a black bar between color bars. CONSTITUTION: A projection system includes a light source, at least one filter(5), a scrolling unit(20), a color divider and a light valve(40). The filter(5) has a slit for controlling the divergence angle of the light emitted from the light source. The scrolling unit(20) performs the scrolling of the incidence light by converting the rotational movement of the lens cell into a linear movement of the lens array at the area, in which the light penetrates the lens cell. The color divider includes a plurality of dichroic filters capable of selectively transmitting and reflecting the incidence light in response to the wavelength and it divides the light emitted from the light source by each color. The light valve(40) forms a plurality of color bars by dividing the light passing through the color divider and the scrolling unit(20) into each color on a different area and forms a plurality of color images by scrolling the plurality of the color bars in response to the rotation of the scrolling unit(20). And, the black bar is formed between the plurality of color bars by controlling the distance between the plurality of the dichroic filters and the width of the slit.
