PURPOSE: A method of transmitting a signal, a device of transmitting a signal, a method of receiving a signal and a device of receiving a signal for a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) service are provided to conveniently maintain the compatibility between DMB services which respectively use a single layer and multiple layers by signaling the connectivity among streams in a DMB service. CONSTITUTION: An SL(Sync Layer) packetizer(140) creates each SL packet through the reception of an improved layer elementary stream and a base layer elementary stream. A PES(Packetized Elementary Stream) packet device(160) converts the each SL packet into a PES. A first TS(Transport Stream) multiplexer(170) outputs a base layer transport stream through the multiplexing of the PES packet. A second TS multiplexer(171) outputs an improved layer TS through the multiplexing of the PES packet.

PURPOSE: A non real time stereoscopic service method in a terrestrial digital multimedia broadcast and a terrestrial digital multimedia broadcast receiving device are provided to process reference data which is transmitted in real time together with additional data after downloading the additional data, thereby removing limit of a data transmitting rate. CONSTITUTION: A terrestrial DMB transmitting device(100) transmits data for a terrestrial DMB service to a terrestrial DMB receiving device(101) in real time. The terrestrial DMB receiving device obtains an additional image from the terrestrial DMB transmitting device in non real time. The terrestrial DMB receiving device downloads the additional image in a file format using an MOT(Multimedia Object Transfer) protocol.

PURPOSE: A transmission and reception method in a digital multimedia broadcasting system and an apparatus thereof are provided to divide one transmission stream into a plurality of streams in consideration of effective data rate in enhancement layer and effective data transmission rate in essential layer and transmit the transmission stream, thereby performing divided transmission of the transmission stream adaptively according to transmission environment. CONSTITUTION: An enhanced layer processor(12) comprises an enhanced layer multiplexer(121), a stream dividing unit(122) and an enhanced layer channel encoder(123). The enhanced layer multiplexer outputs an enhanced layer TS(Transport Stream) by multiplexing of base streams of the enhancement layer. The stream dividing unit divides the enhancement layer transport stream into a plurality of streams. The enhanced layer channel encoder performs channel encoding of divided enhanced layer TS.

PURPOSE: A method and a device for reproducing contents using a scene descriptor, an encoding method therefor, and a recording medium therefor are provided to use a scene descriptor when reproducing contents, thereby providing various 3D scene configuration and interactive services. CONSTITUTION: Scene description information is inputted(202). The scene description information is used so that a stereoscopic object is generated(206). The generated stereoscopic object is reproduced(208). The scene description information comprises disparity information and attribute information for the stereoscopic object. The disparity information is information for controlling the variation of the stereoscopic object.

A method for transmitting and receiving a broadcasting signal is provided to request high efficient transmission while making compatibility with an existing digital broadcasting signal possible, thereby providing a high quality service. A video signal of a broadcasting signal is layered into a basic layer video elementary stream and an enhanced layer video elementary stream. The basic layer video elementary stream and the enhanced layer video elementary stream are packetized into a basic layer video packet and an enhanced layer video packet. A basic layer transmission stream is generated by multiplexing the basic layer video packet with a basic layer audio packet. The basic layer transmission stream and the enhanced layer video packet are transmitted.

An apparatus and a method for equalizing the reception channel in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission system and a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving apparatus applying the same are provided to improve the performance of mobile reception in a transmission system in which pilot signal is not used. A channel estimator(520) estimates channel as a symbol unit with the reference signal received from the standard signal creation part(550). A channel filtering part(530) removes the noises of the presumed channel value. A channel equalization part(540) equalizes the channel by using the estimation channel value. The channel estimator estimates the PRS(Phase Reference Symbol) of the received frame by the reference signal.

PURPOSE: A transmitting/receiving method and device for a digital multimedia broadcasting is provided to offer high quality service in high speed movement by applying the OFDM-CDMA transmission technique to the digital multimedia broadcasting system. CONSTITUTION: The pilot signal is generated by mapping the transferred information with the orthogonal code(S610). The pilot signal is diffused to the frequency domain(S630). The expanded pilot signal is modulated and transmitted. The transferred information comprises the transmission parameter for demodulating the received signal by the receiving device. The pilot signal is reiterated and inserted in a plurality of subcarriers.
