Abstract: A method for low overhead system information acquisition (LOSIA) is disclosed. The LOSIA method includes several techniques for transmitting common channels in a next generation Radio Access Technology (xRAT). Instead of transmitting system information in a periodic, static, cell-specific, wideband manner, the transmission is triggered by user equipment in an “on demand” manner. The LOSIA method allows the network to control the overhead, bandwidth, and periodicity, as well as other characteristics. The LOSIA method employs several different techniques to trigger the information upon which the network can act, for example, by transmitting different payloads depending on the received trigger.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive an information element (IE) that includes: a higher layer parameter that indicates a plurality of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) thresholds; and another higher layer parameter that includes a plurality of resource block (RB) thresholds. The UE may determine a time density of phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) to be transmitted by the UE based at least partly on a comparison between a MCS and the plurality of MCS thresholds. The UE may determine a frequency density of the PT-RS based at least partly on a comparison between a scheduled bandwidth and the plurality of RB thresholds. The UE may encode the PT-RS for transmission in accordance with the determined time density and the determined frequency density.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for channel state information report on physical uplink shared channel in new radio are provided. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE), comprising: a processor, configured to generate a uplink (UL) signal data for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) by using a resource mapping scheme; and a radio frequency (RF) interface, configured to receive the generated UL signal data from the processor, wherein at least a part of the resource mapping scheme is predefined, configured by higher layer signalling, or indicated in downlink control information (DCI).

Abstract: User equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode radio resource control (RRC) signaling from a base station, the RRC signaling indicating a transmission coding scheme for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission. PUSCH-to-phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) energy per resource element (EPRE) ratio is determined using the RRC signaling. A PT-RS power boosting factor is determined based on the transmission coding scheme and the PUSCH-to-PT-RS EPRE ratio. The PT-RS is encoded for transmission using a plurality of PT-RS symbols, the transmission to using increased transmission power corresponding to the PT-RS power boosting factor. The RRC signaling further includes a flag enabling the PT-RS transmission. The PUSCH-to-PT-RS EPRE ratio is 00 or 01, and the transmission coding scheme is a codebook-based uplink transmission or non-codebook-based uplink transmission.

Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for a fallback procedure for a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure for data transmission in a wireless communication system where the apparatuses and methods include at least generating, by a user equipment (UE), a first signal that includes a first message (MsgA) for a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure, transmitting, by the UE, the first signal to a next generation NodeB (gNB), determining, by the UE, whether a 4-step RACH procedure is to be used to further transmit the first signal including the MsgA, and further transmitting, by the UE, the first signal to the gNB using the 4 step RACH procedure based on determining that the 4-step RACH procedure should be used.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for providing low-latency uplink scheduling requests. For instance, a user equipment (UE) can determine a time of transmission of uplink (UL) data by the UE to a UL device. The UE can further generate control data comprising the determined time of transmission and size information for the UL data. The UE can further provide the control data to the UL device prior to providing the UL data to the UL device. The UE can further receive a UL grant from the UL device. The UE can further provide the UL data to the UL device in response to receiving the UL grant.
