Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at an electronic device with a display, radio frequency (RF) circuitry, and one or more input devices. The device displays a first user interface on the display. While displaying the first user interface, the device detects a pairing request to pair a first peripheral with the electronic device. In response to detecting the pairing request, the device determines whether the first peripheral meets coupling criteria, wherein the coupling criteria require that the first peripheral is coupled to a second peripheral. In accordance with a determination that the first peripheral meets the coupling criteria, the device displays a pairing affordance that initiates pairing of the electronic device with the first peripheral. In accordance with a determination that the first peripheral does not meet the coupling criteria, the device displays information concerning coupling of the first peripheral and the second peripheral.

Abstract: Location information is used to build a database of locations having associated audio, video, image, or text data. In some implementations, a device includes a touch-sensitive display and collects data associated with a geographic location of interest. The geographic location of interest can be displayed on a map using an indicator. A touch selection of the indicator provides access to the data through an interface displayed on the touch-sensitive display. One or more locations of interest can be displayed and grouped together by an attribute.

Abstract: An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and one or more tactile output generators for generating tactile outputs displays a user interface that includes a first item. While displaying the user interface, the device detects a first portion of an input by a first contact on the touch-sensitive surface, and detects a first movement of the first contact on the touch-sensitive surface. The device further, in response to detecting the first portion of the input that includes the first movement of the first contact, in accordance with a determination that the first movement of the first contact meets first movement-threshold criteria that are a precondition for performing a first operation, generates a first tactile output, and in accordance with a determination that the first movement of the first contact does not meet the first movement-threshold criteria for the first operation, forgoes generation of the first tactile output.

Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging user interface on the display, the messaging user interface including: a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user, and a message-input area that includes a first message input. While displaying the messaging user interface, the device detects a first input by a first contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location in the message-input area; in response to detecting the first input by the first contact, the device display an impact selection interface that includes a plurality of impact effect options. While displaying the impact selection interface, the device detects a second input by a second contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first impact effect option in the plurality of impact effect options; and, in response to detecting the second user input by a second contact, the device displays a preview that applies the first impact effect option to the first message input.

Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging user interface on the display, the messaging user interface including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user. The device receives a first message within the messaging session from an electronic device that corresponds to another user included in the messaging session; in response to receiving the first message, the device displays the first message in a first message region in the conversation transcript on the display. The device detects a first input by a first contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of the first message region in the conversation transcript; in response to detecting the first input, the device displays an acknowledgement selection affordance at a location in the messaging interface that corresponds to the first message region. The acknowledgement selection affordance displays a plurality of acknowledgement options. The device detects a second input by a second contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first acknowledgement option in the acknowledgement selection affordance; and, in response to detecting the second input, the device applies the first acknowledgement option to the first message region.

Abstract: A host device (e.g., mobile device) and a wearable device can cooperate to provide location-specific information to a user. For example, a host device can maintain a store of location-specific information records. When the host device detects that its current location corresponds to a relevant location for one of the records, the host device can send the record (or a portion thereof) to a paired wearable device. Abstract: A user-activatable dashboard (also referred to as a unified interest layer) contains any number of user interface elements, referred to herein as “widgets,” for quick access by a user. In response to a command from a user, the dashboard is invoked and the widgets are shown on the screen. The user can activate the dashboard at any time, causing the dashboard to temporarily replace the existing user interface display on the user's screen. Once the dashboard has been activated, the user can interact with any or all of the widgets, and can configure the dashboard by adding, deleting, moving, or configuring individual widgets as desired. When the user wishes to return to the normal user interface he or she was working with, the user issues a command causing the dashboard to be dismissed. Once the dashboard has been dismissed, the previous user interface state is restored, allowing the user to resume normal interactions with the operating system.
