    Abstract: A power tool is provided with selectable remote power inlet locations (18A, 15A) by providing conduits (16A) for transmitting power from the remote location to the power switch (20). The remote power inlet (18A) is firmly connected to the conduit so that it is possible to support the weight of the tool by the remote power inlet. In some configurations, the power conduit or conduit cover (16A) serves as a trigger guard or hand guard on the tool grip. Both pneumatic and electrical versions are disclosed.

    Abstract: An integrated centrifugal pump and motor is provided by an impeller disk which contains permanent magnets and functions as the rotor for a brushless DC motor. The rotor is supported by non-contacting radial bearings and is hydrodynamically balanced against any axial thrust so that there is no contact between rotating and stationary elements during operation. Since the impeller disk is also the motor rotor, there is no need for a shaft, in the ordinary sense, which would penetrate the case and, thus, require seals. The resulting pump is compact and can be operated electronically at variable speeds.

    Abstract: An apparatus includes a tilt piston (10) having a piston head (12). The piston head (12) is reciprocally disposed within a cylindrical bore (16) formed in a housing (14), the bore (16) being oriented along an axis. A seal (26) is mounted circumferentially about the piston head (12). The seal (26) has an outer diameter (27) that exceeds an inner diameter (56) of the cylindrical bore (16). The seal (26) extends radially in a first direction having an axial component. A support (52) is mounted circumferentially of the piston head adjacent the seal (26). The support (52) has an outer diameter (54) less than the outer diameter (27) of the seal (26). The seal (26) is a continuous annular ring which may be of a circular or rectangular cross section. The seal (26) and the support (52) may be formed as a unitary member or may be two distinct elements. The support (52) contacts the bore (16) during a portion of travel of the piston (10) within the bore (16).

    Abstract: A centrifugal pump (1) of the "sealless" type including an impeller (12) mounted on a shaft (11) supported by an independent bearing system. The impeller shaft is driven by a motor (19) located outside of the casing through a set of magnets (58). The bearing system includes a lubricating system using the pumped fluid as a lubricant and coolant. A pocket (63) located behind and in close proximity to the rear face of the impeller receives the lubricating fluid and a passage (64) in the casing of the pump carries the lubricating fluid to the bearings. A strainer (70) covers the pocket to prevent the entry of fluid-carried particulate matter into the pocket (63), and the rotation of the fluid, in the chamber, continuously washes any particulate matter from the face of the strainer for discharge thereof through the fluid outlet.
