Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for high efficiency (HE) basic service set (BSS) operations. In an implementation, a wireless station (STA) can identify a set including one or more modulation coding scheme (MCS) and number of spatial streams (NSS) tuples for HE communications in wireless local area networks (WLANs). The STA can determine whether the set is supported by a BSS and also determine that the STA is to attempt to join the BSS in response to a determination that the set is supported by the BSS. In another implementation, the STA can set a channel width capability for high throughout (HT) communications and very high throughput (VHT) communications in WLANs to be the same as a channel width capability for HE communications in WLANs, and can transmit information that indicates that the STA has the same channel width capability for HT, VHT, and HE communications in WLANs.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to providing a mechanism that may be used to flexibly and efficiently signal spatial reuse (SR) and/or transmit opportunity (TXOP) duration information.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for determining backoff values when transitioning between single-user (SU) and multi-user (MU) modes are provided. A station (STA) transitions from a Single-User (SU) mode, in which a first set of parameters is used to attempt to access a medium, to a Multi-User (MU) mode, in which a second set of parameters is used to attempt to access the medium. The STA determines, upon transitioning back from the MU mode to the SU mode, one or more values to use for setting corresponding one or more of a set of backoff counters. The STA attempts, after setting the one or more backoff counters, to access the medium for one or more SU transmissions based on the set of backoff counters.
Abstract:
In certain aspects, an apparatus for wireless communication is provided. The apparatus comprises an interface configured to receive a packet transmitted by another apparatus using a resource, and a processing system configured to determine whether to reuse the resource for a transmission by the apparatus based on one or more reuse constraints. The interface is further configured to output another packet for transmission using the resource if a determination is made to reuse the resource.
Abstract:
In some aspects, a method for configuring channel access parameters in a wireless communication system includes determining, at an access point, an enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) parameter for a first subset of stations of a plurality of stations, the first subset of stations capable of transmitting multi-user uplink transmissions. The method further includes generating an information element including the EDCA parameter. The method further includes transmitting the information element such that the information element is decodable by the first subset of stations and not by a second subset of stations of the plurality of stations.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for managing reuse of a wireless medium are provided. One method of managing reuse of a wireless medium includes determining, at an access point, whether to allow reuse of the wireless medium by one or more stations in a basic service set (BSS). The method further includes transmitting, upon determining to allow reuse, an indication that reuse of the wireless medium can be permitted for stations meeting a criteria. The method further includes determining one or more reuse parameters. The method further includes transmitting the one or more reuse parameters.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for signaling and generating an enhanced random access frame in a wireless network are provided. One aspect of this disclosure provides a method of wireless communication. The method includes receiving, at a first device, a first frame from a second device indicating one or more frequency bandwidths available for random access by the first device. The method further includes transmitting, at the first device, a second frame to the second device in response to the first frame, the second frame comprising an indication of an identifier of the first device and indicating a selection of at least one frequency bandwidth of the one or more frequency bandwidths, the second frame not including a medium access control (MAC) payload data portion.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for polling for data by a wireless device. Certain aspects of the present disclosure providing a method performed by the wireless device. The method generally includes receiving a polling frame from at least one wireless device. The polling frame can include an indication of a service period during which the access point may deliver multiple protocol data units (PDUs) to the wireless device in response to the polling frame. The indication of the service period is provided as a value relative to a local clock synchronized between the wireless device and the access point. The method generally also includes transmitting the multiple PDUs to the wireless device during the service period, in response to the polling frame. The access point can receive the polling frame and transmit the multiple PDUs during the service period, in response to the polling frame.
Abstract:
A wireless device may utilize enhanced OBSS identification techniques to determine whether an interfering transmission is associated with an OBSS. In an example, a wireless device may receive a WLAN packet that includes a preamble and a data region. The wireless device may analyze the preamble to determine whether the WLAN packet is an OBSS packet. If the wireless device determines there is insufficient information in the preamble to identify the WLAN packet as an OBSS packet, the wireless device may decode a portion of the data region (e.g., a MAC header) to determine if the WLAN packet is an OBSS packet. Prior to declaring a successful decoding of the MAC header, the wireless device may confirm the MAC header has been received reliably. Additionally or alternatively, BSS identifiers may be included in the data region and used to determine if the WLAN packet is associated with an OBSS.
