Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for decreasing user plane latency in a wireless communication system. This may include routing a portion of bearer traffic to or from a UE through a local or serving gateway, or within or between base stations, rather than via the core network. In some examples, techniques for selected internet protocol flow ultra-low latency (SIPFULL) for systems in which users may have subscribed to enhanced services may be employed. The network may, for instance, authorize SIPFULL functionalities for UEs per access point name (APN) based on individual services subscribed by the UE to improve overall quality of service (QoS). In some examples, a UEs latency requirements or SIPFULL authorizations may affect mobility operations.

Abstract: Diversity enhancement for multiple carrier systems is disclosed which includes generation of a multiplexed multicarrier radio frequency (RF) signal having N carriers organized to be accessed at a rate of one carrier access per multicast channel (MCH) scheduling period (MSP) per carrier of the N carriers, thereby requiring N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers. The method may also include the base station transmitting the RF signal to a user equipment (UE). In other aspects, the diversity enhancements include the UE receiving a multiplexed multicarrier RF signal having N carriers. The UE may access the N carriers by performing one carrier access per MSP per carrier of the N carriers, thereby performing N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers.

Abstract: Multiple protocol tunnels (e.g., IPsec tunnels) are deployed to enable an access terminal that is connected to a network to access a local network associated with a femto access point. A first protocol tunnel is established between a security gateway and the femto access point. A second protocol tunnel is then established in either of two ways. In some implementations the second protocol tunnel is established between the access terminal and the security gateway. In other implementations the second protocol tunnel is established between the access terminal and the femto access point, whereby a portion of the tunnel is routed through the first tunnel.

Abstract: Transfer of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Services (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) service and idle mode unicast service for a mobile entity from a source base station to a target base station may be managed by a base station or mobile entity of a cellular wireless communications system (WCS). Operations related to the transfer may include obtaining an MBMS status of the mobile entity, and/or obtaining MBMS support information for the base station. A network entity may facilitate MBMS discovery by a mobile entity, by transmitting a data element to the mobile entity including service identifiers mapped to corresponding cell identifiers to indicate respective MBMS services to be broadcast in an WCS area on adjacent cells identified by respective ones of the cell identifiers. The MBMS services may be broadcast within the WCS area using the adjacent cells previously indicated in the data element.

Abstract: A device for receiving streaming data includes a broadcast or multicast middleware unit configured to receive the streaming data via a second service and a proxy unit configured to be disposed between the middleware unit and a client application, the proxy unit further configured to receive an indication of whether the streaming data is to be received via a first service or the second service, when the indication indicates that the streaming data is to be received via the first service: disable the middleware unit; and receive the streaming data via the first service, and when the indication indicates that the streaming data is to be received via the second service: activate the middleware unit to receive the streaming data via the second service, wherein the second service comprises at least one of a broadcast service or a multicast service; and receive the streaming data from the middleware unit.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for smooth transition between broadcast/multicast transmission and unicast transmission. A method for managing unicast and multicast services switching in a multi-band/multi-frequency wireless communications system (WCS) capable of both unicast and multicast signaling includes determining whether an aggregate demand for a content provided via dedicated unicast transmissions exceeds a threshold. The method includes switching transmission of the content from the dedicated unicast transmissions on one frequency to a multicast transmission on a second or more frequencies in response to determining that the aggregate demand exceeds the threshold.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which user equipment performs a circuit-switched fallback procedure to connect to a CDMA2000 network. The CDMA2000 network may be selected by the UE or by the network. A plurality of PLMN IDs may be maintained, where the IDs relate to a network that includes an LTE RAN. Each PLMN ID may be associated with a CDMA2000 network sharing the LTE RAN. A CDMA2000 network may be selected for circuit-switched fallback of a user equipment operating in the LTE RAN. The user equipment may be configured to perform a circuit-switched fallback procedure on the selected CDMA2000 network. The CDMA2000 network may be selected by a mobility management entity responsive to a PLMN selection procedure. The PLMN selection procedure may be performed when the UE reports multiple-operator capability.
