Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer transmitting a driving power to a sheet carrying means through a gear in which print shift is suppressed by locating a pitch shift point in the gear easily. SOLUTION: The printer 10 comprises a print head 12 arranged with ink nozzles at an interval A (A is an integer) times as long as the 1 dot feeding amount Ld at the time of printing through a print head 12, a stepping motor 14, a transmission means 16, and a sheet carrying means 18. A relation Lg=Lp=Ld(A+1) (A is an integer) is satisfied, where Lg is the sheet feeding amount per tooth of a motor gear 20 and a capstan drive gear 22, and Lp is the sheet feeding amount at the time of printing. A test image comprising lines parallel with the moving direction of the print head 12 is printed at a constant interval in the sheet feeding direction. A pitch shift point in the gear 18, 22 is located based on the corresponding sheet feeding amount. Since the sheet feeding amount satisfies the aforementioned relation, backlash of the gear, and the like, are reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize control of paper bail operation only through the rotary force of a platen and with reduced number of members by providing a cam means which impart control function only when the platen is rotated in one direction. CONSTITUTION:A paper bail member 10 comprises a resilient means 16 for causing a paper bail section 13 to impart rotary force in the direction contacting with a paper bail face 7, a cam member 17 supported in the axial direction of a platen 2, and a stopper 22 for blocking rotation of the member 17 in one direction. When the platen 2 rotates in one direction and the controlled part 14 of the paper bail member 10 rides over the cam part 19 of the cam member 17, a gap is provided between the paper bail section 13 and the paper bail face 7. When the platen 2 rotates further in one direction, the controlled part 14 is removed from the cam part 19 and the paper bail part 13 comes into resilient contact with the paper bail face 7. According of this constitution, all operations including positional control of the paper bail member 10 and winding of paper around the platen 2 can be carried out only through the rotary operation of the platen 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To miniaturize a recording apparatus by a method wherein a printing head is held at a standby position separated from a platen roller when the loading with transfer paper is carried out and moved to the position opposed to the platen roller at first after the loading is completed and subsequently brought into contact with the platen roller under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 52 is present at a retracted position until the completion of the transfer of a supply spool to a loading completing position so as not to obstruct the transfer of the supply spool 5. When printing operation is started, printing paper 3 is fed out to a printing part 37 to be wound around a platen roller 51 and, subsequently, the printing head 52 is upwardly moved to a pressure contact position through an advance position and the head part thereof is brought into contact with the platen roller 51 so as to hold an ink ribbon 4 and the printing paper 3 between the head part and the platen roller 51. The platen roller 51 is rotated from this state and the ink ribbon 4 is allowed to run in synchronous relation to the rotation of the platen roller 50 and the ink supported on the ink ribbon 4 is transferred to the printing paper 3 to carry out printing.
