Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an optimal representative picture even when a title is divided or integrated. SOLUTION: A system controller calculates an evaluation value for each frame of image data and prepares the frame of the highest evaluation value (representative picture evaluation value) as an index for each minimum time unit (1 minute). When the display time of the entire title to be displayed on a multi-screen is equal to or longer than the minimum time unit, that time is divided into 6 parts, for example, two index numbers of high representative picture evaluation values are extracted at every time and a representative picture is generated from frames corresponding to these index numbers. When the entire display time is shorter than the minimum time unit, on the other hand, that time is equally divided, leading frames are extracted at every time and the representative picture is generated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record new signals during the reproducing of the signals, which are beforehand recorded in a recording medium, by successively recording inputted signals following the reproducing position of the recording medium while reproducing the recorded signals as reproducing signals in a prescribed reproducing order. SOLUTION: A device 10 is provided with a recording system buffer memory section 51 and a reproducing system buffer memory section 55. The recording process, in which the recording system processing data D40 read from the section 51 are recorded on an optical disk in a recording system 10REC, and the reproducing process, in which the data recorded in a reproducing system 10PB are read out as reproducing data D60 and stored in the section 55, are processed in parallel and in time-division manner. Thus, the process, in which video signals VD10 and audio signals AU10 that are continuously inputted to the system 10REC are recorded on an optical disk, and the process, in which video signals VD100 and audio signals AU100 are continuously reproduced and outputted from the system 10PB are simultaneously conducted.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the simultaneous recording and reproduction of information important at least to a looker and listener with respect to a recording medium by performing transfers of video and voice data to recording system storage means in preference to transfers of video and voice data from a recording medium to reproduction system storage means when a transfer rate is lowered temporarily. SOLUTION: When the transfer rate is lowered temporarily, a simultaneous recording and reproducing device 30 contrives a time for delivering voice data stored in a memory 10 for write by without being delivered to a disk 14 by suspending the readout processing of video and voice data from the disk 14 and by suspenting the write processing of video data. Consequently, only voice data being information important at least to the looker and listener can be recorded on the disk 14 without being missed. When the reading of the video data is suspended, data just before the suspension are freezed in a memory 17 and the outputting of this video is continued whilst a new video is inputted.

At the time of recording the signal below the prescribed time (e.g. 1 minute) to the region where the signals are already recorded of the recording medium, the continuous vacant region above the prescribed time is freshly assured and the signal of the region near the insertion position of the original signals to be inserted are recorded, in addition of signals to be inserted and recorded, in the assured region described above.

SOLUTION: When an erasable region is selected in an already recorded region, additional information (time information and content information) corresponding to the recorded region can be acquired (34). A lapse time can be calculated from the time information and the current time information (35). Storage period information for each content information is retained as reference information, thus whether information can be erased or not is determined from the lapse time and the storage period information (37). It is successively determined whether information can be erased or not for N already recording regions and an erasable, already recording region with the longest lapse time can be determined as a recording region (41). Information is recorded at the determined recording region.

In the case when the audio signal is the music signal, the sampling frequency in the audio signal A/D conversion system 11 is made an ordinary frequency (fs (>fsa )) and thereby the music signal is sampled by a clock of the ordinary frequency fs and recorded at an ordinary recording rate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter in which an emission direction of an optical signal is automatically adjusted so as to obtain a best transmission state. SOLUTION: A modulation section 11 modulates an input signal SIN and gives a signal MS via a filter section 12 to an adder section 13. An oscillation section 14 generates a signal Rs whose frequency differs from that of the signal MS and adds the signal RS to the signal MS at the adder section 13, and the sum is fed to a drive section 15 as a signal MX. Any of infrared ray emitting diodes 16-1-16-n connecting to the drive section 15 is selected and driven based o the signal MX. Each infrared ray emitting diode differs from its light emitting direction. A receiver receives an optical signal, detects a level of a band of the signal RS from the reception signal and the receiver emits an optical signal based on the result of detection. A photo diode 21 of a transmitter 10 receives the optical signal and a generating section 22 gives a discrimination signal HA to the microcomputer 20 to generate the signal CC based on the signal HA and selects an infrared ray emitting diode with an excellent transmission state.
