Abstract: Un método de codificación de imágenes para generar una corriente de bits codificada mediante la codificación de una imagen utilizando una descripción de memoria intermedia para especificar que una imagen se mantiene en una memoria intermedia, estando el método de codificación de imágenes caracterizado por que comprende: escribir, en un conjunto de parámetros de secuencia, información de definición de descripciones de memoria intermedia para definir una pluralidad de descripciones de memoria intermedia; seleccionar una de las descripciones dé memoria intermedia para cada corte, y escribir, en un encabezado del corte, información de selección de descripciones de memoria intermedia para especificar la descripción de memoria intermedia seleccionada, estando incluido el encabezado en la corriente de bits codificada; y codificar el corte utilizando la descripción de memoria intermedia seleccionada, en el que los parámetros de definición de descripciones de memoria intermedia incluyen información a largo plazo para identificar, entre una pluralidad de imágenes de referencia cubiertas por las descripciones de memoria intermedia, una imagen de referencia que es asignada como una imagen de referencia a largo plazo.

Abstract: A method for encoding an image in which an image is encoded for each block, including: a context-selection step (S301) in which, for each of a plurality of sub-blocks respectively including a plurality of coefficients, the sub-blocks being included in a block to be encoded, which is the conversion unit, a context for arithmetically encoding a parameter representing the coefficient to be encoded that is included in the sub-block is selected from a context set corresponding to the sub-block, on the basis of at least one reference coefficient located near the coefficient to be encoded; and an arithmetical encoding step (S302) for arithmetically encoding the parameter representing the coefficient to be encoded, using probability information of the selected context. In the context-selection step, a context is selected from a context set corresponding to the sum of a value showing the horizontal position of a sub-block within a block to be encoded, and a value showing the vertical position.

Abstract: Provided is an image encoding method that comprises: an SAO processing step (S141) in which SAO processing is carried out on a Y signal, a Cb signal, and a Cr signal that are included in a block that is a target for processing; a first flag encoding step (S142) in which a first flag (sao_merge_left_flag) is arithmetically encoded, said flag indicating whether an SAO parameter that indicates the content of the abovementioned SAO processing is the same for the block that is a target for processing and a block that is adjacent and to the left of the block that is a target for processing; and an SAO parameter encoding step (S144) in which the SAO parameter for the block that is a target for processing is arithmetically encoded if the SAO parameter for the block that is a target for processing differs from the SAO parameter of the block that is adjacent and to the left of the block that is a target for processing (Step (S143) relates to a case in which the SAO parameters do not differ). In the first flag processing step, the first flag for the Y signal, the Cb signal, and the Cr signal is arithmetically encoded using a single context.
