    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a long and soft conjugate yarn having excellent luster, uniformity, warmness and a soft feeling, comprising single yarn constituting filament on the skin layer part of a spun yarn. CONSTITUTION: Polyester filament 4 of 50d/48f is opened between a first and a second nip rollers 5 and 7 through an opening electrode 6. On the other hand, cotton yarn 2 of 80 S English count is sent through a third nip roller 8 and both the cotton yarn 2 and the polyester filament 4 are properly arranged in the weight ratio the cotton yarn/the polyester filament of 5/95 to 95/5 and an overfeeding ratio to the filament 4 to the cotton yarn 2 of +0.05 to +20% and fed to a temporary twisting element 9. Both the yarn and the filament are twisted in the direction opposite to that of the cotton yarn 2, untwisted, heat-treated by a heater 11 to form long and short conjugate yarn 1. The conjugate yarn 1 has a shape in which the cotton yarn 2 as a core part is wound with the polyester filament 4, a part of the single yarn constituting the filament 4 exists in an irregular network state or an alternately twisted state and a part of fluff has a projected state.
