Abstract: A multi-mode electronic wind turbine control system establishes a reference blade angle BR for a two-bladed, horizontal axis, variable pitch wind turbine rotor, the blade angle being regulated by a hydraulic pitch change mechanism (38). The rotor (10), via appropriate shafts and a gearbox (20), is coupled to a synchronous generator (24) to produce electrical energy which is fed to a power utility grid. The control system (36) provides closed loop pitch control for rotor acceleration rate during start-up, for rotor deceleration rate during shut-down, for speed control when the synchronous generator is off-line, and for power control when the synchronous generator is on-line. A single control integrator is used for all closed loop operating modes, with a rate limiter circuit in front of the control integrator to prevent integrator overtravel. The integrator has maximum and minimum blade angle stops, the minimum stop being variable as a function of rotor speed and wind speed. When on-line, power control is provided by a unique shaft torque control using proportional plus integral plus derivative controls in combination.

(22), un convertidor de frecuencia (30) y un eje de rotor de generador (24) unido al lado de alta velocidad (26) de la caja de cambios (18) proporcionando dicho convertidor (30) una potencia de salida de c.a. de frecuencia constante; - Dispositivos sensores (50; 54) para detectar la velocidad del generador y la salida de potencia eléctrica del generador y para proporcionar señales detectadas (NG; PE) indicativas de las mismas; y - Un controlador de turbina eólica de velocidad variable (36), sensible a señales detectadas (NG, PE) indicativas de la velocidad del generador y de la salida de potencia eléctrica del generador, para generar una señal de mando de generador (QE(REF)); caracterizado porque: - la señal de mando (QE(REF)) generada por el controlador (36) es una señal de mando del par de torsión para maniobras de gobierno de la velocidad del generador (NG) de acuerdo con una función que define la velocidad del generador (NG) frente a la salida de potencia eléctrica del generador (PE) la cual maniobra tiende a causar que la turbina eólica trabaje substancialmente en el coeficiente de rendimiento de la turbina eóllica (Cp) frente al ratio de velocidad (VR) de la curva de rendimiento óptimo substancialmente en el máximo de la misma; y - el generador de c.a. (22) proporciona una c.a. de frecuencia variable en una línea de salida de potencia (28) de la misma; y - un convertidor de frecuencia (30) está conectado electricamente a la línea de salida de potencia del generador (28) y es sensible a la salidac.a. del generador para convertir la c.a. de frecuencia variable en una c.a. de frecuencia constante, el convertidor de frecuencia (30) es sensible a la señal de mando del par de torsión del generador (QE(REF)) para controlar la magnitud de la potencia eléctrica convertida por el convertidor (30), mediante lo cual efectúa el control del par de torsión del generador de c.a.
