Abstract:
A motor vehicle 1, 101 is disclosed having front and rear roof members 5 and 6 which can be moved from raised to stowed positions to change the style of the motor vehicle from a two box style to a convertible or pick-up style. The rear roof member 6 is stowed at an inclined angle between two rows of seats 9, 10 of the motor vehicle 1, 101 so as to occupy little space within the vehicle 1, 101.
Abstract:
A storable vehicle roof structure having an upper roof component for covering an area above seats in a vehicle interior compartment, a rear roof component coupled to the upper roof component at a rear side thereof so as to cover a rear portion of the vehicle interior compartment, and a package tray which covers the top of a rear storage space in the closed position of the roof. The rear side of the package tray is fitted on the rear roof component via a rotary mechanism for rotating at least the front side of the package tray. The front side of the package tray is guided by a guide member to enable the package tray together with roof components to be stored in the storage space for exposing the vehicle interior compartment.
Abstract:
A convertible top vehicle according to the present invention advantageously utilizes a portion of the rear seating area of the vehicle to stow the roof when in the retracted position. When the convertible top is in the raised position, the rear passenger seating area is not impeded such that both the front and rear seating areas may be utilized.
Abstract:
A pair of side linkages for raising a convertible top between a raised position, covering the vehicle body passenger compartment, through a body opening, and a lowered position folded into a storage compartment within the vehicle body, said top including a header for engaging the vehicle windshield in the top raised position and at least one crossbow extending between the side linkages, each linkage comprising side rails pivoted to and extending rearwardly from the header, and a plurality of links forming 4-bar linkages connecting the header, side rails and vehicle body for folding the top in a Z-shaped folding action to a compact shape in the storage compartment such that the header is not inverted and covers the folded top and closes the body opening.
Abstract:
A pair of side linkages for raising a convertible top (10) between a raised position, covering the vehicle body passenger compartment, through a body opening, and a lowered position folded into a storage compartment within the vehicle body, said top including a header (12) for engaging the vehicle windshield in the top raised position and at least one crossbow (14) extending between the side linkages, each linkage comprising side rails (18, 22) pivoted to and extending rearwardly from the header, and a plurality of links (34, 50, 56, 62) forming 4-bar linkages connecting the header (12), side rails (18, 22) and vehicle body for folding the top (10) in a Z-shaped folding action to a compact shape in the storage compartment such that the header (12) is not inverted and covers the folded top (10) and closes the body opening.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a motor vehicle (1) comprising a roof (2) that is provided with at least one roof part (3) which is movable as a whole between an open position and a closed position. Said roof part (3) extends between an area located close to a windshield frame (4) and a rear, especially stiff roof part (5) in the closed position. The inventive motor vehicle is embodied such that the rear roof part (5) comprises two lateral tips (7) called fins which extend in the direction of the tail. Frame parts (31) which can be raised so as to unblock a passage for the movable roof part (3) engage over the top side of said lateral tips (7) when the roof (2) is closed.
Abstract:
A convertible vehicle having a long roof is provided which includes first through third roofs, supported by the vehicle body, movable between a use position at which the roofs cover the upper part of a vehicle interior R and a non-use position at which the roofs are held in a housing unit 21 to the rear of a body 1 so that the upper part of the vehicle interior R is open. A rear door 9 is supported by the body 1 so as to rotatably open and close between a closed position and an open position further to the rear of the closed position, wherein when the first through third roofs 6, 7 and 8 are in a non-use position, the roofs 6, 7 and 8 are accommodated in the housing unit 21, piled up one top of the other in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle roof with a lowerable roof part (12) which can be moved via a lowering mechanism (48) from a raised into a lowered position and which has a closing device (14), with which the lowerable roof part (12) can be locked both in the raised and also in the lowered position, the closing device (14) with the lowerable roof part (12) raised interacting with a first pivot support (11) which is fixed on a stationary roof part (20). The lowerable roof part (12) can be locked securely in the raised and in the lowered position without high construction cost, and which enables universal use is created by the closing device (14) with the lowerable roof part (12) lowered interacting with a second pivot support (62) which is fixed on an element of the lowering mechanism (48).
Abstract:
A hardtop roof assembly for a passenger vehicle. The roof assembly includes a hard cover over the passenger cockpit. The cockpit cover is completely removable from the remainder of the roof assembly and vehicle and can be selectively secured over the opening above the passenger cockpit or to a rear storage rack for transport with the vehicle. Because it is completely removable, the cockpit cover can also be stored inside the vehicle or left at home if desired. The cockpit cover uses common securing members to selectively secure it over the opening above the passengers or to the rear storage rack. The cockpit cover and storage rack also have corresponding shapes that assume a neat, strong, and compact mating relationship when secured to each other. Additionally, the side edge portions of the cover and storage rack have vertically extending surfaces that abut and substantially mate with each other to add lateral stability and prevent any side-to-side movement of the cover when it is secured to the storage rack.
Abstract:
A convertible top for an automotive vehicle is provided. This convertible top is coupled to the vehicle such that it moves between a raised operative position and a lowered storage position. When in the raised operative position, the convertible top covers the passenger compartment of the vehicle. When in the lowered storage position, the convertible top is stored in the rear seat area and is covered by a portion of the convertible top itself.
