Abstract:
A two- or a one-step process and composition which coats metal workpiece surfaces (aluminum, copper, steel, stainless steel, etc.) with a thin lubricant film capable of allowing the metal to be deformed at room temperature. The lubricant consists essentially of polymers, dispersants, high molecular weight waxes and insoluble metallic stearates. With some ferrous surfaces, a separate coating layer is simultaneously formed (in the one-step process) or pre-formed (in the two-step process) at the metal interface, acting as a base for the lubricant. The process, after pickling in a mineral acid to remove scale and oxides, comprises the step(s) of immersing the workpiece either once or twice. The workpiece is then dried in a heated, forced air dryer.
Abstract:
A rheologically controlled glass lubricant for hot metal working comprises a glass powder, a binder, a rheological agent, and a weetting and viscosity modifier. These materials may be dispersed in a carrier. The lubricant is made by mixing the constituent elements, milling the mixture, and stabilizing the milled mixture. The lubricant can be used in a forging operation by coating a metal part with the lubricant, heating the coated part, placing the coated heated part in a forge, and rapidly applying sufficient pressure to deform the coated metal part into a desired shape.
Abstract:
A low pressure die casting mold releasing agent comprising a mixture of a mold releasing base material, which is an inorganic compound, with an organic compound, at least the mold releasing base material being of powdery or granulated form. This mold releasing agent allows production of castings of high quality, with good workability and without adversely affecting environmental situations.

A squeeze casting mold releasing agent comprising a mixture of a mold releasing base material, which is an inorganic compound, with an organic compound, at least the mold releasing base material being of powdery or granulated form. This mold releasing agent allows production of castings of high quality, with good workability and without adversely affecting environmental situations.
Abstract:
An article of method of manufacture of a low friction tribological film on a substrate. The article includes a substrate of a steel or ceramic which has been tribologically processed with a lubricant containing selected additives and the additives, temperature, load and time of processing can be selectively controlled to bias formation of a film on the substrate where the film is an amorphous structure exhibiting highly advantageous low friction properties.
Abstract:
A method for imparting anti-seize protection and lubricant to threaded connections of protection during make-up and break-out is disclosed which includes adhering a metallic anti-seize film to threads of threaded connections and coating the film protected threads with a lubricating composition to form an anti-seize/lubricating system with reduced adverse environmental impact. The method can also include depositing a bonding film or layer onto the threads prior to adhering the anti-seize film.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a new composite material comprising a porous matrix made of metal, metal alloy or semiconducting material and hollow fullerene-like nanoparticles of a metal chalcogenide compound or mixture of such compounds. The composite material is characterized by having a porosity between about 10% and about 40%. The amount of the hallow nanoparticles in the composite material is 1-20 wt. %.
Abstract:
A self-lubricating coating is provided which includes a mixture of a curable acrylate composition including a dipentaerythritol pentaacylate and a solid lubricant, such as polytetraflourethylenr. The curable acrylate composition may also include triethylene glycol dimethacrylate. An aramid pulp may also be added to the coating mixture. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing the coating, and a self-lubricating bearing having the coating disposed on its surface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for mechanical working of metal and other solid materials with a cooling and lubricating composition containing a major portion of carbon dioxide and a minor portion of a polar lubricant containing at least one polar organic compound with at least one oxygen atom. The polar groups may be selected from the group consisting of the ether, hydroxyl, carboxyl, ester and amido group or mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
In accordance with the method according to the invention, for the production of the plastics overlay, first of all a paste is made of a plastics dispersion and fillers. This paste is free of organic solvents and is applied to a sintered porous metal layer. The multilayer material thus produced is then sintered. Since the use of organic solvents is dispensed with, health risks and the risk of fire are reduced. Moreover, the composite materials produced according to the invention exhibit excellent cavitation resistance. In addition to conventional lubricant-free applications, such as bearings, these composite materials may consequently be used in particular in gear pumps and shock absorbers.
