PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device with a braking device capable of eliminating the interference between a roller for opening, closing, and moving an opening and closing body along a guide member and a rack constituent body for rotating a pinion gear of the rotary braking device. SOLUTION: A door body 1 being the opening and closing body of a sliding door device is of up suspension type for putting a roller 32 on a guide rail 30 being the guide member connected with an upper frame member 10 being an immobile member and suspending from the guide rail 30. The rotary braking device 40 provided with the pinion gear 41 meshing with the rack constituent body 50 attached to the upper frame member 10 through a holding member 51 when the door body 1 is guided onto a fully closing position side by the guide rail 30 and moves is attached to the door body 1. An arrangement position of the roller 32 and an arrangement position of the rack constituent body 50 are deviated by distance A in the axial direction of rotary central shafts 37, 42 of the roller 32 and the pinion gear 41. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a removable door check device which does not require a contact with a hinge pin. SOLUTION: The removable door check device for use with a door hinge holds a vehicle door in an opened position. The removable door check device includes a body, a first contact element extending from the body and having a first contacting surface, and a second contact element extending from the body and having a second contacting surface facing the first contacting surface. The first and second contacting surfaces are movable with respect to each other to permit release of the door check device. In addition, the door hinge includes a first hinge part, a second hinge part pivotally connected to the first hinge part and the removable door check device. The removable door check device includes the first contact element having the first contacting surface configured to engage the first hinge part and the second contact element having the second contacting surface facing the first contacting surface and configured to engage the second hinge part when the door hinge is in the opened position. The present invention is directed to a Cabinet (1) for a recreational vehicle having a main housing with an interior space, a front opening, a left side (5) and a right side (6); and a door (7) configured to seal the front opening. The cabinet (1) further comprises a left hinge mechanism (8) with a left hinge axis (9) and a right hinge mechanism (10) with a right hinge axis (11) to selectively couple the door (7) hinge-wise to the left side (5) or the right side (6) so that the door (7) can either be rotated about the left hinge axis (9) or the right hinge axis (11). The door (7) comprises a left handle (12) which is operably coupled to the left hinge mechanism (8) and the right hinge mechanism (10) so that operating the left handle (12) allows to rotate the door about the right hinge axis (11). The door (7) further comprises a right handle (13) which is operable coupled to the left hinge mechanism (8) and the right hinge mechanism (10) so that operating the right handle (13) allows to rotate the door about the left hinge axis (9). The left hinge mechanism (8) comprises a left locking member (14) separate from the left hinge axis (9) and the right hinge mechanism comprises (10) a right locking member (15) separate from the right hinge axis (11); and the left locking member (14) and the right locking member (15) are in engagement with a blocking element (16). The invention relates to an alarm siren detector and a method of actuating a locking mechanism on detecting the alarm siren. The alarm detector (10) comprises a locking mechanism (22, 24, 26) comprising a locking arm (26) which is moveable between a locking position and an unlocking position and movement of the locking arm between an unlocking position and a locking position is user operated. The method comprises detecting and sampling environmental sounds with a microphone; comparing the sampled sound with a reference pattern using fuzzy logic to determine whether an alarm is sounding; and if it is determined that an alarm is sounding, releasing the locking mechanism so that the locking arm automatically moves from its locking position to its unlocking position. An application of the invention to a fire door enables it to be held open legally, since the door will close automatically as soon as a fire alarm is triggered.
