Abstract: An improved differential gear mechanism is characterized by a lockout mechanism (129) operably associated with a latch member (119) that cooperates with a flyweight mechanism (53) to retard differentiating action in the differential gear mechanism. The lockout mechanism (129) includes a lockout member (131) positionable, in response to an input signal, in a normal condition and a lockout condition. In the normal condition, the lockout member (131) permits the latch member (119) to move freely between a locking position and an unlocking position. In the lockout condition, the lockout member (131) prevents the latch member (119) from moving into the locking position.

Abstract: In a multi-disk clutch comprising a rotary body having splines formed thereon so as to extend helically along the surface thereof, with a number of disks having central openings with inwardly projecting teeth via which the discs are in rotationally positively locking engagement with the rotary body, the teeth are twisted so as to extend in a plane normal to the surface of the helically extending splines of the rotary body so that the end face areas of the teeth are in planar contact with the spline surfaces of the rotary body for the transmission of torque between the rotary body and the disks.

Abstract: A differential carrier (11) containing sideshaft gears (18, 19) which are supported in the differential carrier so as to be coaxially rotatable around the longitudinal axis (A), differential gears (20, 21) which are supported in the carrier (11) on axes of rotation (R) positioned radially relative to the longitudinal axis (A) and whose teeth engage those of the sideshaft gears (18, 19), as well as a multi-plate coupling (41) arranged in the carrier (11) so as to extend coaxially relative to the axis (A) and so as to be effective between a first one of the sideshaft gears (19) and the carrier (11) or the second one of the sideshaft gears (18).
