Abstract:
A system for inspecting an exterior of a battery cell includes a tray on which battery cells are mounted in a plurality of rows, a first photographing part configured to horizontally move along the tray and photograph an upper surface of the battery cell while on the tray, at least one shuttle on which the battery cell is mounted, a transfer part configured to transfer the battery cells from the tray to the shuttle, a second photographing part configured to photograph a side surface and a lower surface of the battery cell while in the shuttle, and an inspection part configured to inspect a photographed image and determine whether the battery cell is defective. The second photographing part simultaneously photographs the side surface and the lower surface of the battery cell to simultaneously display the side and lower surfaces of the battery cell in one image.
Abstract:
A reagent analyzer and method is described. In the method, a reagent card having a reagent pad is passed through an optical signal path between an optical signal source and an optical signal detector. A transition between a first electrical signal and a second electrical signal is detected to determine a substantially exact position of a leading end or a trailing end of the reagent pad. The first electrical signal is indicative of the substrate interfering with the optical signal. The second electrical signal is indicative of the substrate and reagent pad of the reagent card interfering with the optical signal. The reagent pad is moved to a known second location upon determining the substantially exact position of at least one of the leading end and the trailing end of the reagent pad. At the second location a sample is dispensed onto the reagent pad by a sample dispenser.
Abstract:
An egg identification system for determining viability of an avian egg is provided. Such a system includes an emitter assembly configured to emit electromagnetic radiation toward an egg. A detector assembly is axially aligned with the emitter assembly to detect electromagnetic radiation transmitted through the egg. The detector assembly is spaced-apart from the egg during operation thereof such that the detector assembly does not contact the egg. The detected electromagnetic radiation is processed using transmission spectroscopy analysis to determine whether the egg is viable. An associated method is also provided.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure include systems and methods. According to certain embodiments, provided is an integrated analysis system that includes a first module including a sample analysis component and a first internal container conveyor system. The integrated analysis system further includes a second module including a second internal container conveyor system. The first and second modules are positioned adjacent each other such that the first and second internal container conveyor systems are aligned and adapted to transport containers from the first module to the second module. Also provided are methods of analyzing and preparing samples (e.g., blood and body fluid samples), as well as components that find use within the analysis systems of the present disclosure.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus comprising: a measuring head (10) having a slot (18) for receiving a measurement cell (26) and means (28) for emitting electromagnetic radiation, and means (32, 36) for detecting radiation from said emission means (28) after it has passed through the measurement cell (26); means (16) for translatably driving and means (12, 14) for translatably guiding, allowing the substantially vertical longitudinal movement of the measurement head (10); at least two recesses (44) each intended for receiving a measurement cell (26) and arranged one above the other in a longitudinal direction, the recesses (44) as well as the driving means (16) and the guiding means (12, 14) being configured such that during the translational movement of the measurement head (10) along the nominal travel thereof each recess is placed inside the slot (18) of the measurement head (10).
Abstract:
A system for detecting the presence of bacterial growth in a plurality of sample vials incorporates a single test station moveable along each of the plurality of sample vials. In one embodiment, the sensor station is movably mounted on a rod, and that rod is movably mounted on a pair of spaced rods. The rod which carries the test station may move along the spaced rods to change the location of the test station in a first dimension and the test station is moveable along its rod to change location in a second dimension. In this way, the test station may be moved through two dimensions to move serially to the location of each of the plurality of sample vials. In another aspect of this invention, a bar code is associated with each of the sample vials, and the test station makes a reading of that bar code concurrent with a determination being made as to whether there is any bacterial growth in the sample vial. In this way, it is ensured that the results of the evaluation of whether bacterial growth is ongoing will be associated with the proper sample vial. In a third aspect of this invention, the sample vial incorporates a plurality of distinct types of bacterial sensors. Thus, the advantages of each of several types of bacterial sensors may be incorporated into a single sample vial.
Abstract:
A luminometer for assaying bioluminescence and chemiluminescence reactions characterized by sample wells having transparent bottom walls, a light detector positioned beneath the sample wells and a reagent injector above the wells.
Abstract:
An analytical reader device having an elongated fixed standard tray supporting thereon a strip of standard wells and an elongated movable sample tray supporting thereon a strip of sample wells. A track arrangement connects and allows the movable sample tray to slide along the fixed standard tray. A rack gear is secured along the side of the movable sample tray opposite to the track arrangement. A geared dial is rotatably supported on a support plate secured to the fixed standard tray. The teeth of the geared dial mesh with the teeth of the rack gear so that as the movable sample tray slides the dial rotates. When a sample well is positioned adjacent the visually similar standard well, the dial is turned so that the correct concentration reading thereon appears through a fixed readout window.
Abstract:
A multibeam photometric measuring device includes a single light source along with a filter assembly for passing only a desired band of wavelengths and an optical system for suitably focusing light from the light source. Light is transmitted individually to each of a plurality of sites disposed on a multi-well sample plate. Enhancement of color distribution is provided by automatic agitation of the reacting agents within the sample wells before a reading is taken at each of the sampling intervals of a kinetic measurement sequence.
