A method, apparatus, and system are provided for monitoring environment parameters of critical facilities. A Remote Area Modular Monitoring (RAMM) apparatus is provided for monitoring environment parameters of critical facilities. The RAMM apparatus includes a battery power supply and a central processor. The RAMM apparatus includes a plurality of sensors monitoring the associated environment parameters and at least one communication module for transmitting one or more monitored environment parameters. The RAMM apparatus is powered by the battery power supply, controlled by the central processor operating a wireless sensor network (WSN) platform when the facility condition is disrupted. The RAMM apparatus includes a housing prepositioned at a strategic location, for example, where a dangerous build-up of contamination and radiation may preclude subsequent manned entrance and surveillance.
Abstract:
The present invention supports the control of a plurality of controlled devices. With three dimensional accelerometer components, detection of a user action on a remote controller and the orientation of the remote controller are viable through small electronic devices. Aspects of the invention are based on the three dimensional accelerometer components to provide a remote controller that can detect the user action. Based on the user action, the remote controller transmits a signal to the controlled device which conveys the corresponding command. A selected controlled device may be matched to the remote controller. The remote controller and controlled device may also support a learning mode, in which the controlled device sends a list of supported commands to the remote controller. The remote controller then matches an associated action with each command in the command list.

Presented is a control system for augmenting a portable touch screen device having integral processing capability. The control system includes an enclosure configured for encasing the portable touch screen device, an internal docking connector configured for communicatively mating with the portable touch screen device, and hard buttons. At least one of the hard buttons is functionally configured for use with an application program running on the portable touch screen device. The control system includes further includes a processor configured for converting button actuations into a digital format, and a first facility for communicating the digital format to the portable touch screen device via the internal docking connector. The application program is configured such that, during operation, the application program communicates the status of the one hard button to at least one external device.

A method for controlling a group of wirelessly controlled appliances comprising at least one appliance in a home automation network comprising a master controller, characterized in that it comprises: a reception step in which the master controller receives a wireless command intended for an appliance of the group, then a connection step in which the master controller connects the appliance to mains power, if the appliance was previously disconnected from the mains power, then a disconnection step in which the appliance is automatically disconnected from mains power.

The system includes a first energy transceiver system configured to transceive energy signals. The system also includes a transcieved modulant coupled to the first energy transceiver system. The system further includes a second energy transceiver system at least partially disposed on the object and capable of being interrogated by the first energy transceiver system. The second energy transceiver system still further includes a sensing system. The system also includes a processor coupled to the first energy transceiver system. The processor is configured to determine of the plurality of the operating parameters of the object in the harsh environment based upon the transceived modulant.

In a method for wireless communication between a control unit and an electronic housing mounted on a vehicle member, information for the electronic housing is transmitted in the form either of continuous signals, or of signals modulated by encoded data. Each electronic housing includes a switching strategy between reception modes for the two types of signals, including establishing a permanent standby state for continuous signal reception and, upon the reception of a continuous signal, controlling a switchover to the modulated-signal reception mode for a time T, after which the electronic housing processes the data of the potential detected modulated signal and, if no such modulated signal is detected, processes the continuous signal at the origin of the switchover. Furthermore, after the time T, a reverse switchover control to the permanent standby state is delivered.
