A method for enhanced viewing of images transmitted from a remote location to a portable imaging device. The method comprises the steps of: providing the portable imaging device adapted to receive images transmitted from the remote location, the portable imaging device including a display of a predetermined size, and a memory for storing image data; providing access to a high resolution image stored at the remote location; transmitting a display size representation of the high resolution image; storing the transmitted display size representation in the memory; displaying the display size representation on the display; providing a user control for selection of a zoom mode of operation; in response to a selection of the zoom mode of operation, transmitting a first image area of the high resolution image and storing the first image area in the memory, the first image area comprising a portion of the high resolution image; and displaying on the display a second image area, the second image area comprising only a portion of the first image area stored in the memory.

A control method for a composite apparatus having at least a printer function, and further having a controller adapted to control an entire apparatus, a network connector adapted to connect to a network to send and receive a packet, and a printer language processor adapted to process a printer language. First, contents of the packet inputted via the network connector is analyzed, then if the analyzed packet is print data, the packet is transferred to the printer language processor, and if the analyzed packet is not the print data, the packet is transferred to the controller.

A digital camera capable of sharing digital images using a plurality of host computers, comprising: memory for storing captured digital images and for storing installation software that can be used to install digital image sharing software on the plurality of host computers; a user interface for designating captured digital images to be shared; and a communication interface for communicating with a host computer. The communication interface can be configured to use a first logical protocol where the digital camera appears to the host computer as a data storage device in order to install the digital image sharing software on the host computer. A second logical protocol, where the digital camera appears to the host computer as an image capture device, is used when the digital image sharing software is running on the host computer that enables the digital image sharing software to automatically share designated digital images.

A portable terminal device and a program for reading information, which can read a code correctly with simple operations, and a recording medium having the program recorded thereon. A portable telephone (10) with a camera has a camera (12) for inputting information of an image of interest, a small light (13), which emits light through the operation of ON/OFF button (21) while reading a bar code, an LCD display part (15) for displaying information, and a control part(31) including a CPU for controlling the whole device. The control part (31) switches photography modes depending on the existence of objects such as natural images or bar codes. The control part(31) recognizes a bar code when the device switches to a mode for bar code photography. Then, the device notifies a user of the results of the recognition and then performs a predetermined process based on the content of the recognition.

At least one service is provided by a network service provider to multiple digital media frames, where the at least one service includes providing information data comprising financial, news, shopping, and weather information, and pictorial images comprising photo, video, and textual representations. Each digital media frame is associated with an account associated with the network service provider. Each account includes a user profile that includes the at least one service associated with a respective user. Based on the user profiles, the service provider transmits the at least one service included in the user profiles to the digital media frame associated with each respective user profile.

In an image-forming device (10), an image-reading unit (14) reads an image formed on an original document (12). A data-reading unit reads data stored in a storing member (12A) of the original document. A duplication-performing unit (21,22) performs a plurality of duplication processes including at least an image/data-duplication process in which the duplication-performing unit forms the read image on a first recording medium (17) having a storing member (17A) and writes the read data to the storing member of the first recording medium, and a data-duplication process in which the duplication-performing unit writes the read data to the storing member of the first recording medium without forming the read image on the first recording medium. A receiving unit receives an image/data-duplication instruction and a data-duplication instruction. The duplication-performing unit performs the image/data-duplication process if the receiving unit receives the image/data-duplication instruction, and performs the data-duplication process if the receiving unit receives the data-duplication instruction.
