Abstract: An image size compensating system of a multifunction printer includes a scanning unit to generate scan data obtained by scanning a reference document and a copy of the reference document, a system control unit to extract scan information on widths and lengths of the reference document and the copy from the scan data, and a printer engine to receive the scan information from the system control unit and to control a main motor controlling a length of a print image and a polygon motor controlling a width of the print image so that sizes of the reference document and the copy are identical to each other.

Abstract: An image forming device, such as an LED printer, liquid crystal printer, laser printer or the like, comprises a sheet feeding unit (2), a sheet carrier (22), a pulse motor (12) provided for the sheet carrier (22) and driven to carry a sheet (10) fed from the sheet feeding unit (20) to a printer (16) for printing an image over at least one entire line of a sheet (10), and which is perpendicular to the direction in which the sheet is carried, by one printing operation thereof, a motor controller (14) for controlling the stepping motion of the pulse motor (12) for moving the sheet (10), a printing controller (18) for controlling the printing operation of the printer (16) in such a way that each printing operation thereof is synchronized with the stepping motion of the pulse motor (12), and an outlet tray (24) for receiving the printed sheet (10). Such a device can be of smaller size, and can be cheaper to produce, than previously-proposed devices.

Abstract: In an image reading apparatus, a retreat control device moves a conveyance target through a conveyance mechanism, when a stop operation is performed by a stop control device, in an opposite direction to an image reading direction to a position further from a restart reference position set by a position setting unit. A reading control device again moves the conveyance target, which has been moved by the retreat control device, at a constant speed in the image reading direction under a predetermined condition; inputs a line start signal to a reading unit when an offset time set by a time setting unit has elapsed from a time point when the conveyance target reaches the restart reference position; and periodically inputs a line start signal to thereby cause the reading unit to perform a reading operation from a point; where the reading unit is located when the offset time has elapsed.

Abstract: A laser exposure unit of this invention includes a finite focal lens for providing a predetermined characteristic to beams sent from a plurality of light sources, a cylinder lens, a mirror block for forming the respective beams passed through these lenses to be one, first to third image-forming lenses for arranging a deviation characteristic at the image-forming position of the deflected beams, and one or three mirrors for emitting the beams passed through the respective image-forming lenses at a predetermined position. An irradiation of the beam corresponding to image data is provided onto the respective photosensitive members from the respective light sources by timing corrected in accordance with the amount of shift detected by a resist sensor. Therefore, there is provided an image forming unit, which can provide a color image having no missed alignment of color components, and a laser exposure unit, which is suitable for the image forming unit.

Abstract: A longitudinally displacable roll apparatus supporting a web (16) of record material is designed to maintain the roll (18) in proper alignment with associated processing equipment as the web is paid from, or wound onto, the roll. The apparatus comprises a pair of frame members supporting the roll. The roll is rotated by a drive shaft (195) having an interengageable coupler on the drive shaft and one end of the roll, to permit the roll to be rotatably driven by the roll drive shaft while not being directly secured thereto. The other end of the roll is engaged by means for displacing it longitudinally in accordance with signals derived from the actual path of the web so as to keep the web accurately on its intended path. The longitudinal and rotational drive system are able to operate independently of each other.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To set a read-in timing suitably and to read in video information from the next original without inconvinience even if the hole diameter of the original is larger than the permissible vlaue, by providing the 1st and 2nd count section and a control circuit inhibiting the output of video information to an original front and tail end detecting circuit of a video input device. CONSTITUTION:An output of a voltage-current conversion circuit 21 detecting the reflected light from a surface to be scanned and outputting a voltage signal FV, and a detection output from a detection section 29 detecting the carriage of the original are applied to an original front and tail end derecting circuit 23. This detecting circuit 23 is provided with the 1st count section which counts the time corresponding to the carriage time between the detection section 29 and the surface to be scanned and outputs the count end signal, and the 2nd count section which counts the time corresponding to the permissible hole diameter and outputs the count end signal. The count is started at the 2nd count section through the detection signal of the absence of original from the detection section 29, the count end signal is outputted from the original presence signal, the output of the 1st count section is inhibited when the end signal is not outputted and the read-in timing is suitably set.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing image unevenness due to light emission of a transfer element. Namely, when a printing speed is changed to 1/2n (n is a positive integer), a SLED head controller repeats a cycle to perform exposure control for one line and then stops the exposure control for the lines corresponding to 1/2n speed. For example, in the 1/2 speed (i.e., n=1), transfer and light emission driving are performed at an initially set maximum speed, and the cycle when the exposure control for one line is stopped after the one-line exposure control is repeated. The printing speed is changed on the basis of the type or kind of recording medium used.

Abstract: In an image forming apparatus in which an exposure is conducted by scanning of a laser beam, the apparatus includes a photoreceptor for forming a latent image thereon; an exposure device having a rotary polygonal mirror for exposing the photoreceptor, wherein the laser beam is deflected and scanned onto the photoreceptor by rotating the rotary polygonal mirror; a controller for controlling a linear speed of the photoreceptor; and a braking device for decreasing forcibly a speed of rotation of the polygonal mirror. When the controller decreases the linear speed of the photoreceptor according to an image formation mode, the braking device decreases the speed of rotation of the polygonal mirror.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which actualizes high-precision multi-colored image forming by synchronizing the rotation synchronism between an intermediate transfer belt and a photosensitive body drum with the line synchronizing signal of an optical system. SOLUTION: The image forming device comprises a laser diode 30, a polygon mirror 32, a synchronizing signal detector 31, a mirror 33 which returns laser light to a photosensitive drum 7, the photosensitive drum 7 which is exposed to the laser light 2 to form a latent image, a drum motor 35 which drives and rotates the photosensitive drum 7, a developing unit 36 which sticks toner of different colors on the latent image one after another to form toner images, an intermediate transfer belt 5 which transfers the toner images one after another, a driving roller 8 which drives and rotates the intermediate transfer belt 5, a driving motor 34 which drives and rotates the driving roller 8, an optical pattern 37a which is formed on a side piece of the intermediate transfer belt 5, and pattern detectors 38a and 38b which detect and convert the pattern into an electric signal.
