Abstract:
Information available at a decoder is embedded into image content after decoding of said image content by a first decoder, representing that information by at least one film grain pattern and then blending that at least one film grain pattern with the decoded image content. Such image content is typically in the form of a movie and examples of the information to be embedded include identification of the specific decoding device, the user of the decoding device, the time and date of decoding, the model number of the device, the versions of software running on the device, the status of the device or connections to the device, the contents of device registers or memory locations within the device, among many other possible data. When an unauthorized copy of image content is discovered, the copied image content undergoes a comparison to the decoded image content to generate difference data. Thereafter, the difference data undergoes comparison with a database of film grain patterns to recover the embedded data.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a watermark generation method for generating watermarks to be embedded in digital media, where said watermark is generated by combining at least two watermark patterns from a set of watermark patterns. The set of watermark patterns are divided into at least two subsets of watermark patterns, and the subsets are hierarchically related and the watermark patterns in said watermark are directly related watermark patterns. Directly related means that the watermark patterns are related like parent and child in a hierarchical structure e.g. a tree structure. Further, the invention relates to an apparatus adapted to generate watermarks to be embedded in media.

Die Erfindung ist auf ein Verfahren zum Einbringen von manipulationssicheren digitalen Fingerabdrücken in elektronischen Dokumenten ausgerichtet, das es ermöglicht, Manipulationen von Käufern oder Gruppen von Käufern nachzuweisen. Erfindungsgemäß wird ausgehend von einer vorher festgelegten Anzahl von Kopien und von einer maximalen Zahl von kooperierenden Angreifern zum Dokument für jede Kopie eine Stellen oder ein Bereiche für den digitalen Fingerabdruck des Kunden definiert. Alle im Rahmen des Dokuments definierten Stellen und Bereiche für die digitalen Fingerabdrücke unterliegen in ihrer Gesamtheit einem in sich geschlossenen endlichen geometrischen Ordnungssystem, in dem an definierten Stellen oder Bereichen Überschneidungen der digitalen Fingerabdrücke erfolgen. Anhand der Auswertung der durch die Angreifer nicht gefundenen Schnittstellen können die an der Manipulation beteiligten Angreifer eindeutig ermittelt werden. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren eignet sich insbesondere für die Kennzeichnung von Kopien von Dokumenten, die dem Copyrightschutz unterliegen

A forensic verification system (900) extracts a print signature via a print signature extractor (910) from a captured image of a printed halftone. The system (900) utilizes a comparator (920) to compare the print signature to a reference signature stored in a registry to determine differences between the print signature and the reference signature. The system (900) utilizes a forensic analyzer (930) to perform a forensic analysis on the signatures based on the comparison to authenticate the printed halftone.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and system for embedding in a digital media file user fingerprint which the user cannot detect when using the digital media file. In the method, a user-detectable watermark is first embedded in the digital media file. This watermark can be transformed in a client device to a non-detectable fingerprint of the user by utilizing digital media file-specific information issued by a digital media rights owner when the user has bought a user license. Afterwards the digital media rights owner can read the embedded user fingerprint from the digital media file if it is ille¬ gally distributed between other users.

A method for enhancing security printing of a layout template is disclosed. The method includes receiving the layout template, and acknowledging one or more constraints for the layout template. At least one unconstrained layout element of the layout template is varied, thereby generating a varied layout template. The varied layout template is printed and scanned. The method further includes determining a number of bits that can be encoded in the varied layout template, where the number of bits depends on the varying of the at least one unconstrained layout element.

An image forming apparatus and a method to control the same. The image forming apparatus determines whether the object to be printed is real money. If the object is real money, the image forming apparatus prints a variety of counterfeit money discrimination information (e.g., the counterfeit money preventing pattern, the warning message, or the unique number of the image forming apparatus used for printing the money) on the back side of the copy of the money, and prints the original image of the money on the front side of the copy of the money without any change. Therefore, the image forming apparatus can colour-print the original image of the money without any change, and can prevent the copied money from being used as counterfeit money.
Abstract:
Image identifier information specific to image data to be input to an image duplication apparatus is embedded in the image data as a steganography in advance. Meanwhile, on the side of an image (duplication apparatus, a duplication control apparatus comprised therein decodes the steganography contained in image data, detects the image identifier information, compares the detected image identifier information with pre-assigned license information and permits a duplication operation such as printing onto a print medium or storing into a storage medium if the aforementioned two kinds of information are identical.
