Abstract:
A communications terminal is connected to at least one of a telephone line and a local area network and includes a first memory, a second memory, a detector, and an indicating mechanism. The first memory stores service information including availability information representing availability of a specific communications service provided by a service provider through at least one of the telephone line and the local area network and condition information suitable to the specific communications service. The second memory stores message information indicating that the specific communications service is not usable. The detector is configured to detect whether the service information stored in the first memory is appropriate each time the communications terminal starts a call connection operation to use the specific communications service based on the condition information. The indicating mechanism is configured to read the first memory and to indicate the message information indicating that the specific communications service is not usable when the detector detects that the service information stored in the first memory is inappropriate.
Abstract:
After the user purchased an information apparatus, even when he turns on a power source without setting a line and automatic line identification fails, a demonstration mode is not started, and when the information apparatus exists in a shop, the demonstration mode can be certainly started by the minimum number of steps. The information apparatus has: a communicating situation identifying unit for identifying a communicating situation of the information apparatus; a display unit for displaying the demonstration mode and an electronic key for promoting sales of the information apparatus; an operation unit for selecting the electronic key; and a control unit for identifying the communicating situation when the power source is turned on, starting a regular mode in which the information apparatus is normally used when the identification of the communicating situation succeeds, and displaying a demonstration mode selection display screen to select start-up of the demonstration mode when the identification of the communicating situation fails.
Abstract:
The present invention selects a channel to be used in facsimile-transmitting image information included in e-mail subjected to relay request in accordance with channel selection information included in said e-mail.
Abstract:
To provide an communication apparatus such as a facsimile apparatus that allows radio communication in different modes to be used so that efficient communication can be implemented. For instance, even in a state where the image reading section (hand scanner) is removed, it allows an image read by the facsimile apparatus to be sent to another first terminal and simultaneously radio-communicated to a public switched line by a second terminal by way of the facsimile apparatus. Also, it allows a quality cordless telephone function to be implemented by a TDMA radio line and simultaneously high-speed transmission of image data and so on to be implemented by a frequency hopping radio line. The communication apparatus according to the present invention is characterized by concurrently using a radio communication line such as TDMA of which transmission band is guaranteed to be used although its transmission speed is not fast as exemplified by PHS and a radio communication line such as frequency hopping that has a possibility of interference occurring in the transmission band although its transmission speed is fast as exemplified by Bluetooth.
Abstract:
A method that involves recognizing an incoming FAX call at a destination edge node, the destination edge node supportive of at least two FAX transport manners. A first control packet is sent from the destination edge node to an originating edge node that effectively requests transmission of the FAX call according to one of the FAX transport manners. A second control packet is sent from the originating edge node to the destination edge node that effectively confirms or refuses to confirm transmission of the FAX call according to one of the FAX transport manners.
Abstract:
In facsimile-communicating an original when the Internet selection state in an operation unit is set to “automatic selection”, the original is communicated by selecting the e-mail-based Internet for an A4 original size, and the session-based Internet for a B4 or A3 original size. At the same time, the original information is transmitted in accordance with the transmission mode of its own apparatus, the encoding method determined based on the reception capability of a facsimile apparatus at a reception destination, and the receiving-side output original size and resolution.
Abstract:
Upon reception of a data transmission request, an image input device 1 searches for transmission means available for transmission to a destination, such as transfer to FTP server or transmission by e-mail, and lists all the extracted available transmission means. Image input device 1 then creates a selection menu executed as an applet for receiving a selection of transmission methods from the destination. The destination can use the selection menu acquired from image input device 1 to designate the priority order of desired transmission means and a file name in reception of transmitted data. The selection menu thus created is transmitted to the image input device 1.
Abstract:
An interconnecting device for relaying a voice call and a fax communication of a communication terminal between an analog line and a digital line, the digital line having a bandwidth being controlled by a control apparatus, the interconnecting device comprising: a start signal receiving unit for receiving a fax communication start signal from the communication terminal through the analog line, the fax communication start signal indicating a start of the fax communication; and request signal sending unit for requesting of the control apparatus that the bandwidth of the digital line available to the interconnecting device be expanded from in the voice call when the start signal receiving unit receives the fax communication start signal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an Internet FAX apparatus which, after receiving an Internet address from a certain destination, can communicate with the same destination in later transmission or during communication by connecting to a LAN and switching to an Internet FAX mode requiring no communication charge. An Internet facsimile apparatus on the receiving side transmits its Internet facsimile function and Internet address on an NSF signal in a standard protocol of G3 facsimile transmission and/or transmits its telephone number, Internet facsimile function, and Internet address on TSI and NSS signals in the standard protocol of G3 facsimile communication. The Internet facsimile apparatus registers an Internet facsimile function and Internet address of a partner apparatus as destination data. The Internet facsimile apparatus communicates with the partner apparatus by using the Internet address in the destination data in later transmission or by disconnecting ordinary facsimile mode communication and switching to the Internet FAX mode.
Abstract:
Communication systems and methods are provided for selecting a channel for transmission of a facsimile utilizing a wireless communication network which has two different channel types available for wireless communications. In particular, systems and methods are provided which preferentially request one of the service types for a transmission of a facsimile but further provides for use of the alternate service type under conditions where a suitable channel is not available for the preferred facsimile support channel. More particularly, in one embodiment, when digital transmission services are not available, but analog services are available, facsimile transmission is provided over the analog channel rather than denying access to the wireless communication network for transmission of the facsimile.
