Abstract:
The invention concerns a barking tool for barking machines of the type having a plurality of swinging arms, each being at an inner end pivotally mounted on an annular rotator which is rotatable about an axis of rotation, and each having at a free outer end a processing edge. The processing edge is defined between a front and a top surface, which is adapted, during barking, to make an acute angle with the circumferential surface of the log. The barking tool further has a bead, which is located on the top surface in an area adjacent to the end of the processing edge furthest down in the feeding direction. The bead is essentially arcuate in such a manner that its height above the top surface successively increases from an area adjacent to the processing edge perpendicularly backwards therefrom and, more specifically, the height is adapted such that the bead during normal barking is positioned between a certain minimum and a certain maximum, and preferably essentially uniform, distance from the barked circumferential surface of the log independently of its diameter.
Abstract:
An air-seal, air-cell rotary-ring-type log debarker which is capable of operating in two different operating modes. In one operating mode, the air seal is nonpressurized, and debarking tools in the debarker are under the actuation control solely of pressure-isolated charged air cells which are carried on the rotary ring in the debarker. In another operating mode, the seal between the rotor and stator is pressurized to allow fluid communication between the two, and tool actuation is under the combined control of the ring-carried air cells and of an external source of selectively variable fluid pressure.
Abstract:
Attitude control mechanism for a flexible bag component of a composite pneumatic chamber including a fixed section over which an inturned portion of a flexible bag pneumatic chamber section rolls includes a cantilever bag attitude control stem having its root anchored in a mounting closing the end of the flexible bag remote from the rigid pneumatic chamber section and extends through a central guide aperture of at least one frame mounted within the rigid pneumatic chamber section for substantially linear reciprocation guidance so as to prevent appreciable buckling of the flexible bag as it is contracted axially by movement of the mounting carrying the stem toward the rigid pneumatic chamber section.
Abstract:
A log de-barking machine comprising two hollow rotor type processing units, one having tools to cut helically through the bark, and the other one having tools to further subdivide the cut bark and to finally remove the bark from the log in the shape of comparatively small pieces, and further having means for advancing the logs axially thereof successively through the two hollow rotor type processing units.
Abstract:
A rotary ring-type log debarker has barking tools operated by double-acting air cylinders with air pressure supplied through solenoid valves from a pressure chamber in the rotor. During normal debarker operation the rotor pressure chamber is isolated from an external source of air pressure. Air is supplied to the rotor pressure chamber intermittently only when necessary to maintain or increase air pressure in the chamber through a pilot air-operated ring-type air seal between the rotor and its stator. The seal is loaded only during the addition of air to the rotor pressure chamber to minimize wear on the sealing surfaces. Positive, instantaneous opening and closing of the tools and changes in air pressure in the rotor pressure chamber are effected from a remote operator's console while the rotor is either rotating or stationary.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a barking machine which comprises a frame (1), barking rotor (2), which is rotably mounted on the frame (1) and which barking rotor comprises a rotor frame (3), barking blades (4) mounted on the rotor frame (3), and a first power unit (5) mounted on the rotor frame (3) that is connected to the barking blades (T) for trnsferring the barking force into them. According to the invention in the barking rotor there is arranged an adjustment device (6) movable with respect to the rotor frame, and a second power unit (7) which is mounted on the frame (3) for transmitting the barking force via the first power unit (5) to the barking blades (4). This solution enables one to adjust the barking depth of the barking blades without stopping the barking rotor.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are embodiments of batch-style bottom-discharge rotary debarkers for removing bark from a batch of logs in a bin and discharging debarked logs from a bottom of the bin. In some embodiments, the bin includes four walls and an opening in its bottom. In some embodiments, the debarkers include a plurality of rotors, a plurality of chutes, and a plurality of conveyor belt systems for carrying bark and logs away from the bin. In some embodiments, the debarkers include an internal gate which can be moved between a debarking configuration and an unloading configuration.
