Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer golf ball including a soft, low compression center, a soft, flexible outer cover layer, and a relatively hard, high compression intermediate layer disposed between the center and outer cover layer.SOLUTION: The multilayer golf ball is composed of the center, intermediate layer and outer cover. The center and intermediate layer are composed of a polybutadiene composition, and the core compression of the intermediate layer only is larger than the compression of the center by 25 compression points. The outer cover layer is composed of a composition whose flexural modulus is 40,000 psi or less.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball cover having an excellent mechanical strength and cut/shearing resistance and furthermore light stability. SOLUTION: A golf ball 20 including a cover material made of a polyurea composition is provided. In one version, the golf ball 20 includes a polybutadiene core 22 and a coating cover layer 24 made of the polyurea composition. In another version, the golf ball 20 includes the polybutadiene core 22, an intermediate casing layer made of an ionomer resin and an outer cover layer 24 made of the polyurea composition. The polyurea composition is the reaction product of alycyclic isocyanate and amine compound. Diisocyanate is selected from 1,3-bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane, 1,4-bis(isocyanatomethl)cyclohexane and the mixture thereof. The resulting cover material has many advantageous characteristics including improved durability, toughness and light stability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal wood club head with an improved striking face having a zone of high coefficient of restitution aligned in a predetermined orientation. SOLUTION: This golf club head 10 has a selectively oriented zones of relatively high flexural stiffness. The hitting face 16 is configured and dimensioned so that it includes an inner zone 36 and an intermediate zone 38. The inner zone 36 has relatively high flexural stiffness and the intermediate zone 38 has relatively lower flexural stiffness. The inner zone 36 may have an elliptical shape or a substantially parallelogram shape. Preferably, the inner zone 36 has a shape that comprises a major axis and a minor axis and the major axis aligns substantially in the direction of high heel to low toe. This arrangement of inner and intermediate zones creates a gradient of flexural stiffness in the direction of high toe to low heel and produces a COR (Coefficient Of Restitution) in that direction. This area of high coefficient of restitution advantageously coincides with the ball impact pattern that golfers typically make on the hitting face 16. The hitting face 16 also includes a measurement zone wherein the minimum COR is at least 93% of the maximum COR. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
A golf club head having portions of varying density is disclosed and claimed. The club head includes a body with a recess in the back between the heel and toe and extending toward the sole. An insert that is configured to matingly correspond to the recess is positioned within the recess. The insert has a lower specific gravity than the club head body, biasing the club head mass toward the club head perimeter. The insert can form a muscle of the club head. The club head is forged, and the recess is formed by machining. After the insert is positioned within the recess, the club head-insert combination is subjected to additional forging and finishing steps. The present invention increases the club head moment of inertia and/or enlarges the club head sweet spot while retaining the golfer's ability to work the golf ball and shape the golf shot. The present invention can be used with forged, blade, and muscle back clubs, which have not heretofore been enhanced in these manners.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball providing softer feel and sound quality while maintaining desirable launch conditions, that are low spin, a high launch angle and a high ball speed. SOLUTION: The golf ball consists of a multi-layer core and a cover. The hardness gradient from the center of the innermost core layer to the surface of the outermost core layer is reduced and the multi-layer core consists of a center and an outer core layer that are both soft relative to a hard intermediate core layer. The outer core layer is thin relative to the center and the outer core layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a releasable connection system for assembling a golf club. SOLUTION: The golf club includes: a shaft 14; a club head 12; and a connection system 10 for releasably connecting the shaft to the club head. The system includes a two-part hosel, wherein a first hosel part is connected to the shaft and a second hosel part is connected to the club head, wherein an anti-rotation device is disposed at the first and second hosel parts, and the anti-rotation device is located above the club head, and wherein the two hosel parts are rotatable relative to each other. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball including the core and the cover. SOLUTION: The golf ball includes the core and the cover. At least part of the golf ball is formed from the following component: a prepolymer formed from a reaction product of an isocyanate-containing component and an isocyanate-reactive component. Here, the isocyanate-containing component is trifunctional, and the isocyanate-reactive component is formed from a composition containing a curing agent containing a second diamine and a 3,3'-dimethyl-4,4'-bis(sec-butylamino)-dicyclohexyl methane.
