Abstract:
Accordingly, the present invention relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive composition consisting of a continuous phase comprising cross-linked polyalkyleneoxide polymer and a discontinuous phase comprising water absorbent hydrophilic agents wherein a) the water absorbent hydrophilic agent(s) is present in an amount between 1 and 40 % w/w of the total adhesive composition; and b) the continuous phase comprises the reaction product (X) of: (i) a polyalkyleneoxide polymer having one or more unsaturated end groups, and where more than 90 % w/w of the polyalkylene oxide polymer consist of polymerised alkyleneoxide moities having three or more carbon atoms, and (ii) an organosiloxane comprising one or more Si-H groups, carried out in the presence of an addition reaction catalyst. The present invention also relates to medical devices comprising such pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract:
A dry chamber (100) for a modular drainage system, the dry chamber may comprise a downstream connector (106) which is in fluid connection with the dry chamber via a flexible annular element defining a conduit. A kit of elements comprising a dry chamber, and at least one of : a collecting bag (130); a device for draining body fluids; an annular element (140) for fluidly interconnecting the dry chamber and a device for draining fluids; and an annular element (138) for fluidly interconnecting the dry chamber and a collecting bag. Use of a flexible annular element for fluidly interconnecting a dry chamber and a bag for collecting body fluids.
Abstract:
An adhesive wafer for an ostomy faceplate or wound dressing comprising a back ing layer (1), said backing layer having one surface facing the skin, said surface comprising a first and a second adhesive zone (2, 3) being separated from each others by a void volume (4), said void volume being defined by the backing layer (5), the first and the second adhesive zones and the skin surface and wherein the first and the second adhesive zones are capable of moving independently of each others with respect to the lateral plane of the backing layer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an absorbent adhesive body of a foamed pressure sensitive hydrocolloid adhesive comprising one or more water soluble or water swellable hydrocolloids and having gas bubbles incorporated therein, where the gas in the gas bubbles are in direct contact with said pressure sensitive hydrocolloid adhesive and where tan for said adhesive in un-foamed form is below 0.35 at 40 °C and 0,001 rad/sec.
Abstract:
A suction system for removal of exudate from a wound comprises a wound cover which is attachable to a wound circumference of a living being thereby to form an enclosure, and a pump in fluid communication with the enclosure to provide a pressure difference between a negative pressure in the enclosure and an air pressure of an ambient space. A deflectable member is arranged such with respect to the enclosure that the pressure difference may cause deflection of the deflectable member, and a pressure sensing device is located outside the enclosure and arranged to provide a signal in response to the pressure or the deflection of the deflectable member. The deflectable member forms an essentially air tight barrier between the sensor and the enclosure.
Abstract:
A device for stimulating the healing of a wound comprises a separating means having a fluid inlet and a gas outlet. The separating means may constitute a collecting container for collecting fluid pumped from the wound. A pump for applying negative pressure comprises pump head and a drive unit. The pump head is connected to the gas outlet of the separating means, and the pump head is detachably attached to the drive unit, so that in use the fluid inlet of the separating means is connected to a wound cover, e.g. via a conduit.
Abstract:
A layered adhesive construction comprising a backing layer and a first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive, where the first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive have different composition, and the second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive is at least partly interposed between the first layer of hydrocolloid adhesive and the backing layer, the first and second adhesive layers consisting of a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase where the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises a hydrocolloids providing a higher moisture absorption capacity and higher initial rate of absorption to the adhesive layer than the hydrocolloids in the discontinuous phase of the second adhesive layer, and the discontinuous phase of second layer of adhesive comprises hydrocolloids providing a higher cohesion following moisture absorption to the adhesive compared to the hydrocolloid in the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer.
Abstract:
In a combination of a male incontinence product (100) and a package (200; 600; 700; 800; 900; 1000) accommodating the incontinence product, the incontinence product comprises a penile sheath, which is rolled-up to form a collar portion (110). The incontinence product, external catheter or uridom, also includes a drainage tube for connecting it to a urine collecting bag. In the package, the incontinence product is collapsed. To provide a compact package, the combination comprises at least one retention element (204; 206; 246; 604; 704; 804; 904; 1004) retaining the incontinence product in the collapsed state when the package is closed. A method for manufacturing the combination may include forming the package as one single piece by injection moulding.
Abstract:
The external urinary catheter comprises a sheath portion (1) and a tip portion (3). A layer of adhe- sive (7) is provided on the inner side of the sheath portion (1) and extends between a first limit (7a) and a second limit (7b). At least one indication (8) indicating at least the first limit (7a) of the layer of adhesive (7) is provided. The indication may be a visual indication, e.g. in the form of a coloured line (8).
