PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner capable of effectively reducing a speckle noise with a simple structure.SOLUTION: In the optical scanner, a polarization modulation element 7 makes laser beam L before incident on a scanning projection device 11 incident and emits the incident laser beam L while switching the laser beam L to two different polarization directions every a prescribed time, and an angle modulation element 9 makes the laser beam L emitted by the polarization modulation element 7 incident and emits the incident laser beam L to the scanning projection device 11 at emission angles corresponding to the polarization directions of the laser beam L.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance stability as to a sensor for determining whether a detecting object substance has been detected through change in color of pigment and a sensor device equipped with the sensor. SOLUTION: This sensor includes a sensing part 32 comprising a pigment complex 322. The complex 322 includes a carrier for pigment fixation having a plurality of pores and pigment fixed within the pores changing its color according to the detection of the detecting object substance. SOLUTION: The display 1 includes the light guide plate 13 having a tapered shape in the thickness direction and the screen 14 disposed on the front face side of the light guide plate 13, wherein the light projected from a projector unit 10 is made incident on the thick width side end face of the light guide plate 13, the light is emitted from an emitting position corresponding to the incident angle of the light to the thick width side end face on the front face or the back face of the light guide plate 13, and the light emitted from the front face of the light guide plate 13 is made incident on the back face of the screen 14 and an image is displayed on the front face of the screen 14. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve display with high speed and high quality, in an electrochromic display device of passive matrix drive using leuco dyes. SOLUTION: In the electrochromic display device 100 of the passive matrix drive, first and second electrodes 20, 40 include a plurality of insulating partition walls 51, extending in parallel in the direction perpendicular to the first electrode 40, in which at least the surface is oxidized, and which is arranged between the second electrodes 40, 40 adjacent to each other. The display device displays a selected pixel by applying a voltage of a first potential difference between electrodes, using the first electrode 20 for forming the selected pixel as a negative electrode and the second electrode 40 for forming the selected pixel as a positive electrode. Also, the display device brings the pixel except the selected pixel into a non-display state by applying a voltage of a second potential difference smaller than the first potential difference between the electrodes, using the first electrode 20 except the first electrode 20 for forming the selected pixel as the positive electrode and the second electrode 40 except the second electrode 40 for forming the selected pixel as the negative electrode.
