Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to systems for building a model of changes to data items when information the data items is limited or not directly observed. Exemplary embodiments allow properties of the data items to be inferred using a single data structure and creates a highly granular log of changes to the data item. Using this data structure, the time-varying nature of changes to the data item can be determined. The data structure may be used to identify characteristics associated with a regularly-performed action, to examine how adherence to the action affects a system, and to identify outcomes of non-adherence. Fungible data items may be mapped to a remediable condition or remedy class. This may be accomplished by automatically deriving conditions and remedial information from available information, matching the conditions to remedial classes or types via a customizable mapping, and then calculating adherence for the condition on the available information.

Abstract: A computing system responsive to obtaining original image data, detects a set of data point(s), in the original image data, that indicates an object. The system determines, based on the set of data point(s), a set of pixels associated with the object in the original image data. The system generates an alternative visual identifier for the object that provides a unique identifier for the set of pixels absent in the original image data. The system generates, autonomously from intervention by any user of the computing system, pixel information to conceal feature(s) of the object. The system obtains modified image data comprising the alternative visual identifier. The modified image data further comprises the feature(s) of the object in the original image data visually concealed in the modified image data according to the pixel information. The system outputs an image representation of a trajectory of the object through the modified image data.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to systems for summarizing data visualizations (i.e., images of data visualizations), such as a graph image, for instance. Some embodiments are particularly directed to a personalized graph summarizer that analyzes a data visualization, or image, to detect pre-defined patterns within the data visualization, and produces a textual summary of the data visualization based on the pre-defined patterns detected within the data visualization. In various embodiments, the personalized graph summarizer may include features to adapt to the preferences of a user for generating an automated, personalized computer-generated narrative. For instance, additional pre-defined patterns may be created for detection and/or the textual summary may be tailored based on user preferences. In some such instances, one or more of the user preferences may be automatically determined by the personalized graph summarizer without requiring the user to explicitly indicate them. Embodiments may integrate machine learning and computer vision concepts.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a processor to: within each reading thread, retrieve a data set part and corresponding part metadata from storage device(s), analyze row group metadata for each row group within the data set part to identify candidate row group(s) meeting specified criteria, and store the candidate row group(s) and corresponding row group metadata within a data buffer of a queue; operate the queue as a FIFO buffer; within each provision thread, retrieve one of multiple row groups and corresponding metadata from within the data buffer, use information in the metadata to identify rows meeting the criteria, and provide those rows to the requesting device or an application; and in response to each instance of storage of a data set part within a data buffer of the queue, analyze the availability of storage space and/or of processing resources to determine whether to dynamically adjust the quantity of reading threads.

Abstract: Machines can be controlled using advanced control systems that implement an automated version of singular spectrum analysis (SSA). For example, a control system can perform SSA on a time series having one or more time-dependent variables by: generating a trajectory matrix from the time series, performing singular value decomposition on the trajectory matrix to determine elementary matrices; and categorizing the elementary matrices into groups. The elementary matrices can be automatically categorized into the groups by: generating one or more w-correlation matrices based on spectral components associated with the time series, determining w-correlation values based on the one or more w-correlation matrices; categorizing the w-correlation values into a predefined number of w-correlation sets, and forming the groups based on the predefined number of w-correlation sets. The control system can then generate a predictive forecast using the groups and control operation of a machine using the predictive forecast.

Abstract: A computing device receives a request for a design of an experiment. The device generates a data representation of a matrix Y that defines a supersaturated design for the design of the experiment. The generating the data representation is by: generating a data representation of a matrix X according to an obtained design; computing an indication of correlation between effects of factors of a matrix Y; and generating, based on the indication of correlation, the data representation of the matrix Y that is the transposition of the matrix X or is the transposition of a matrix X*. The matrix X* is a first subset of the matrix X such that the transposition of the matrix X* represents a same number of factors as the transposition of the matrix X. The device outputs a setting for each test condition of the supersaturated design for the experiment.
