Abstract: A hearing aid that compensates for a patient's hearing deficit in a gradually progressing fashion. The hearing aid may be programmed to successively select in a defined sequence a parameter set that defines at least one operating characteristic of the signal processing circuit from a group of such parameter sets. The defined sequence may end in a parameter set that optimally compensates the patient's hearing.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided to switch between transmit and receive modes in wireless hearing aids. Various aspects of the present subject matter relate to a communication system. Various embodiments of the communication system include an antenna with a resonant circuit having an inductive coil connected to a tuning capacitor. The communication system includes means to selectively drive the resonant circuit during a transmit mode, and means to selectively receive an induced signal in the resonant circuit during a receive mode. The communication system further includes means to selectively include a frequency shift canceling component in the resonant circuit to provide a first resonance frequency in the resonant circuit in the transmit mode and a second resonance frequency in the resonant circuit in the receive mode such that the first resonance frequency and the second resonance frequency are approximately equal. Other aspects are provided herein.

Abstract: An automatic gain control provides for enhanced acquisition and tracking of wireless signals. The wireless signals may include signals using electrostatic fields, magnetic fields, or electromagnetic fields. In an embodiment, wireless signals are provided as radio frequency signals. The automatic gain control design is intended to quickly acquire new incoming information in a wireless signal. A control unit regulates the automatic gain control to manage the acquisition and gain of the wireless signal based on a transmission protocol. The automatic gain control adjusts the gain for the wireless signal to a minimal level required for detection for a preprogrammed amount of time, at the same time minimizing unwanted background noise from interfering with the data packet. When the communication session is concluded, the automatic gain control can be released allowing increased sensitivity in preparation of the next transmission.

Abstract: A system and method for testing and measuring hearing assistance device s using a plane wave tube is provided. One aspect of this disclosure relates t o a method for testing a hearing assistance device. According to an embodiment, the hearing assistance device is mounted proximal to an acoustic waveguide havin g a soundfield with acoustic waves propagating down the waveguide. A microphone of the hearing assistance device is placed in the soundfield of the acoustic waveguide to increase a direct acoustic component and to reduce reflected acoustic components and scattered acoustic components of sound sensed by the microphone. Sound i s generated using a sound generator to propagate sound of desired frequencies down the waveguide. Other aspects and embodiments are provided herein.
