Abstract:
The invention relates to a superabsorbent polymer comprising a composition comprising a polymeric resin composition comprising from about 55 to about 99.9 wt.% of polymerizable unsaturated acid group containing monomers, from about 0.001 to about 5.0 wt.% of internal crosslinking agent and from 0 to 25 wt % of a preneutralizing agent; wherein the polymeric resin composition is preneutralized from 0 to about 50 mole %; and a water swellable, water-insoluble aminopolysaccaride polymer wherein when the superabsorbent polymer is contacted with an aqueous solution, the polymeric resin composition is neutralized by the aminopolysaccaride polymer so that the superabsorbent polymer has a degree of neutralization of about 20 mole % or more than the preneutralization degree of the polymeric resin composition.
Abstract:
The invention relates to absorptive, crosslinked polymers which are based on partly neutralized, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers carrying acid groups wherein the absorptive crosslinked polymer may be coated with a thermoplastic polymer, and have improved properties, in particular in respect of their capacity for transportation of liquids in the swollen state, and which has a high gel bed permeability and high centrifuge retention capacity.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an aqueous superabsorbent polymer paste comprising from about 1 to about 5 wt % of superabsorbent particles and from about 95 to about 99 wt % of an aqueous water-soluble solution having from about 0.5 to about 5%, preferably from about 1 to about 3% solid level. The present invention is also directed to a coated substrate comprising a substrate material and an aqueous superabsorbent polymer paste comprising a blend of i) from about 1 to about 5 wt % of superabsorbent particles and ii) from about 95 to about 99 wt % of an aqueous water-soluble solution. The present invention is also directed to a method for reducing the loss of circulation fluids into flow passages of a subterranean formation during well drilling, completion or work over operations, by using the aqueous superabsorbent polymer paste of the present invention.

Abstract:
A fossil-fuel-fired system, which includes an emissions-control-agent dispenser, a furnace, an emissions monitor and, optionally, a controller, is disclosed. The emissions-control-agent dispenser provides a prescribed amount of organic-emissions-control agent, such as, for example, an opacity-control agent to the fossil-fuel-fired system. The furnace includes an exhaust communicating with the atmosphere. The emissions monitor is capable of measuring at least one property of the flue-gas communicated through the exhaust to the atmosphere. For example, when an organic-emissions-control agent is an opacity-control agent, the emissions monitor has the capability of at least measuring opacity. When included, the controller communicates with at least the emissions-control-agent dispenser and the emissions monitor.
Abstract:
An absorbent cellulose material having an application of superabsorbent polymer adhered to the cellulose material. In particular, the cellulose material has an application of pre-superabsorbent polymer adhered to the material, wherein an aqueous solution of pre-superabsorbent polymer is applied to the cellulose material and converted to superabsorbent polymer upon subjected to heat for a sufficient time. The absorbent cellulose material has a fluid retention of greater then 2g/g.
Abstract:
In the prevention of the spread of fires and for directly fighting fires, a cross-linked, water-swellable additive polymer in water/oil emulsion produced by an inverse phase polymerization reaction to be added to the firefighting water is disclosed. The additive has the properties of absorbing large quantities of water, high viscosity for adherence to vertical and horizontal surfaces, and retention of suffizient fluidity to be educted in standard firefighting equipment. The method of adding this additive to the firefighting water by eduction or by a batch addition to the water source is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A process of making the flexible superabsorbent binder polymer composition includes preparing a preneutralized monomer solution having at least about 40mol% degree of neutralization, preparing a monomer solution including monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, one of which includes an alkyloxysilane functionality, preparing initiator system solutions and adding the solutions to the monomer solution, mixing the foregoing solutions into a polymerization solution, cooling the polymerization solution, and post neutralizing the polymer.
