Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To define and correct a statistically defined filter, even in system operation by allowing a client object to selectively invoke a server filter by using its filter identifier. SOLUTION: A client object is of a constitution enabling selective invocation a server filter by using the filter identifier. A prefilter 438 and a postfilter 446 are included in a skeleton code 414 for mounting of respective objects, and each server object holds the registry 420 of the filter including unique identifiers and the specifications for the filters 438 and 446 and the order in which the filters 438 and 446 should be applied. The filters 438 and 446 execute a selected method either prior to or after conventional arraying and array resetting which are carried out in the method invocation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for synchronized thread execution on a multi- thread processor by including a step, etc., for giving an indication so that a common object is to be locked by pushing the object identifier(OID) of the common object onto a lock stack, when a selected thread is entered. SOLUTION: A computer system 100 is equipped with a system bus 101 and a processor 102. In this system, respective threads which are synchronized refer to an object which is shared by the threads and identified with OID. Then one of the threads is selected for execution. When the selected thread is entered, the OID of the common object is pushed on the lock stack to give an indication so that the common object is locked. Furthermore, the OID is pushed out of the lock stack for removing the indication.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and device for preprocessing and packaging a class file by obtaining a reduced class file by removing copied elements from plural class files and constituting a plural-class file including the reduced class file and a common table. SOLUTION: A server 100 includes Java development environment 104. A preprocessor checks respective class files in one set of class files 107 to search for copied information in the form of a redundancy contact included in a constant loop. The copied information is arranged in an individual common table, and all the occurrences of constants are removed from the constant loops of individual class files. In preprocessing, memory allocation matters are decided for the respective class files and used to determine the allocation matters of the whole set of class files. The memory allocation matters and reduced class file are packaged into a single unit in the multi-class file.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the maintenance of the storage/retrieval time of a message and strong data consistency by installing an index directory, an index file and bucket data of which are all page bases. SOLUTION: A data storage area 124 is provided with an index directory 104, an index file 106 and a data bucket directory 102. The respective storage constitution elements are constructed in accordance with page base constitution. For example, when the respective storage constitution elements are organized by top levels based on a day when a specified message is received, the respective pages of the storage constitution elements are on a day basis. The data bucket directory 102, namely, a data bucket holder is a container for essentially holding series of the data buckets for a previously decided time period, one day, for example. Consequently, all the messages received in a prescribed day are usually stored in the data bucket corresponding to the specified day.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To integrate directory entries under a second format to a directory service operable under a first format by providing a directory service operable so as to access the network directory under a prescribed protocol. SOLUTION: A directory service 32 is provided with a directory database 34 arranged at a server 30. A directory user agent 38 for a device 36 forms a directory user client for accessing the directory service 32 for reading information out of the directory database 34 and writing the information into the directory database 34. Then, by retrieving information from the directory operable under a prescribed environment, access can be performed by the directory service operable under the prescribed protocol.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a local duplication in a client such as a DUA(directory user agent). SOLUTION: At the time of performing the communications between a server 10 and the client 28 on a network, a network element 28 maintains the local expression of a variable from the directory service 10 of the network without polling variable in the directory service 10. The network element 28 receives a duplicated message for updating a local record from the directory service 10. By using a duplication mechanism, the latest value of the variable is made possible to be maintained without repeatedly polling the variable in the directory service 10.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a peripheral device to be operated on all platforms by providing memory classes of the 2nd group of which respective classes are subclasses of classes of the 1st group, depending upon the platforms, and accessing only objects of the classes of the 1st group. SOLUTION: The top layer 32 of software constituted logically in a series of layer is a platform independent type. Software included in this platform independent layer 32 is so written so that it can be used in combination with arbitrary platforms based upon an existent CPU or future CPU without being corrected. The 2nd layer 34 is a platform dependent type. Each class is provided with memory classes of the 1st group of the platform independent type and each class is a subclass of the 1st group; and memory classes of the 2nd group of the platform independent type are provided and only objects of the classes of the 1st group are accessed to execute a client constituent element memory function.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with the interfacing of a sending side and a receiving side with a transferring mechanism by allowing a socket to interface with a transferring and delivering mechanism and sending a message from the transferring and delivering mechanism to a message processor and a message from the message processor to the transferring and delivering mechanism. SOLUTION: Upon generating a message, the message processor 202 sends it to a transferring and delivering module 204 through the socket. The module 204 generates a network packet 206 from the message (buries the message into a transferring header, e.g.) to send through a network 210. There can exist the plural instances of the module 204 capable of generating the packet 206 through the use of the message format of a communication protocol. Connection is generated between the module 204 and the instance of the socket 204 and between the socket 204 and the instance of the processor 202.
