Abstract: A system for transmitting or receiving information on resource allocation in a wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to reduce overhead in accordance with transmission or receipt of information on the resource allocation by transmitting or receiving the information on the resource allocation via a general data area. A method for transmitting or receiving information on resource allocation in a wireless communication system comprises the following several steps. A base station transmits the information on the resource allocation to a terminal via a resource allocation information transmitting area, namely an MAP message(401). The base station checks whether a channel is in a good state(403). If so, the base station transmits information on the resource allocation, to be transmitted next time, with data via a data area(405) and checks whether an ACK message is received from the terminal(407). If not in the step 407, the base station repeats the step 401, but otherwise the base station checks whether a channel is in a good state(411). If so in the step 411, the base station checks whether there exists data to be transmitted to the terminal(413).
