Abstract:
A system for achieving a method of operating brakes such as the rear brakes (34, 36) of a vehicle. The method including the steps of: generating a brake pressure error signal by comparing commanded brake pressure and actual brake pressure; operating a pump (16) during instances wherein the error signal is of one magnitude (+) to effect an increase in actual brake pressure; decreasing brake pressure during instances wherein the error signal is of an opposite magnitude (-).

Abstract:
The combination isolation and check valve includes a valve member (80, 180) which has a reduced diameter section (82, 182) and an enlarged diameter section (84, 184) disposed in respective bore sections (70, 74) separated by an intermediate diameter bore section (72). The valve member can be displaced by increased fluid pressure to sealingly engage a seal (95) that isolates a master cylinder (12) from an adaptive braking system (10, 120). A flapper valve mechanism (110) that places an orifice (114) at a valve member end opening (96A) communicating with a longitudinal opening (96) and a transverse opening (93). The orifice (114) reduces pressure transmitted from a pump (45) to the bore (22) containing the valve member (80) without restricting fluid flow between the master cylinder (12) and an associated wheel brake (50). The valve mechanism (210) may be disposed in a passage (41) that communicates with the valve member (180).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for predicting the remaining service life of an air filter (10) element reads the pressure drop across the filter element at regular usage intervals (such as engine run time or distance the vehicle has traveled). An approximation of the rate at which the pressure drop is increasing is made, which is used to calculate the usage at which the maximum pressure drop will be attained.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition for use in compression refrigeration and air-conditioning comprising: (a) 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane; and (b) a sufficient amount to provide lubrication of a lubricant therefor wherein said lubricant is an aliphatic non-hydrogen containing compound, an aliphatic compound having greater than about 80 percent non-hydrogen containing atoms, or an aliphatic hydrogen-containing compound having greater than about 80 percent exterior primary hydrogens, has a viscosity of about 5 to about 150 centistokes at 37 DEG C, and is miscible in combination with said 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane in the range of about 0 DEG C to at least +20 DEG C. The compositions may further comprise an effective amount of stabilizer. The present composition is useful in compression refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.
Abstract:
A compressed air system includes an electronic control which controls enabling and disabling of the compressor in response to pressure level variations in the system storage reservoir. A humidity sensor is installed in the system reservoir and generates a signal which varies as a function of the humidity of the compressed air in the reservoir. The control unit includes a comparator which compares the signal generated by the humidity sensor with a reference signal and generates a humidity control signal when the humidity of the air in the reservoir exceeds the reference level. The control unit responds to compressor disabling by causing the system air dryer to regenerate or purge for a predetermined time period, even if the compressor is unloaded for time periods greater than the predetermined time period.
Abstract:
A polymeric release film comprises a film forming base polymer and a surface modifying copolymer additive which provides desired release properties. The copolymer additive comprises a hard segment polymer component selected to obtain a desired level of compatibility with the film forming base polymer and a soft segment polymer component selected from the group consisting of polydiorganosiloxanes such as polydimethysiloxane, polydialkylsiloxane, and polyfluoroalkyl alkyl siloxane; polyalkylene oxide; polyolefin; polydiene and polyfluorocarbon. The method of use of the release film as a substrate for deposition of reinforcing fiber and resin matrix in the production of composite materials including prepregs, bulk molding compound, sheet molding compound and thick molding compound is a part of this invention.
