Abstract:
In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented method is performed at a portable electronic device with a touch screen display. The method can include: displaying graphics on the touch screen display, detecting a finger contact on the touch screen display, and, in response to the detected finger contact, inserting an insertion marker in the graphics at a first location. The method can further include detecting a finger movement on the touch screen display and, irrespective of initial distance from finger to insertion marker on the touch screen display, moving the insertion marker in accordance with the detected finger movement from the first location to a second location in the graphics.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for implementing gestures with sensing devices are disclosed. More particularly, methods and systems related to gesturing with multipoint sensing devices are disclosed.
Abstract:
A plurality of icons are displayed on a touch-sensitive display. A respective icon in at least a subset of the plurality of icons corresponds to two or more symbols. A contact by a user with the touch-sensitive display that corresponds to the respective icon is detected. A respective symbol in the two or more symbols to which the contact further corresponds is determined. The displayed respective icon is modified to indicate that the contact corresponds to the respective symbol.
Abstract:
A portable communication device with multi-touch input detects one or more multi-touch contacts and motions and performs one or more operations on an object based on the one or more multi-touch contacts and/or motions. The object has a resolution that is less than a pre-determined threshold when the operation is performed on the object, and the object has a resolution that is greater than the pre -determined threshold at other times.
Abstract:
A method of operating a touch screen to activate one of a plurality of virtual keys is provided. A touch location is determined based on location data pertaining to touch input on the touch screen, wherein the touch input is intended to activate one of the plurality of virtual keys. Each of the plurality of virtual keys has a set of at least one key location corresponding to it. For each of the virtual keys, a parameter (such as physical distance) is determined for that virtual key that relates the touch location and the set of at least one key location corresponding to that virtual key. The determined parameters are processed to determine one of the virtual keys. For example, the determined one virtual key may be the virtual key with a key location (or more than one key location, on average) being closest to the touch location. A signal is generated indicating activation of the determined one of the virtual keys.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a device with a touch screen display is disclosed. The method comprises: displaying one or more of a series of items in a list; detecting a movement of an object on the touch screen display; in response to detecting the movement, translating the displayed one or more items in a first direction; in response to continuing to detect movement of the object on the touch screen display after a terminus of the list has been reached, displaying an indication that the terminus of the list has been reached; and in response to detecting that the object is no longer in contact with the touch screen display, ceasing to display the indication, wherein displaying the indication comprises displaying an area beyond the terminus of the list.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to user interfaces for receiving user input. In some examples, an electronic device displays a keyboard and a text entry interface, the text entry interface comprising a character insertion point. In some examples, a touch user input with a first characteristic intensity at a first location on the touch-sensitive display is detected, the first location associated with the keyboard and corresponding to a first character. In some examples, a preview of the first character on the touch-sensitive display is displayed in in accordance with a determination that a first characteristic intensity of the touch user input does not exceed an intensity threshold. In some examples, the first character at the character insertion point on the touch-sensitive display is displayed in accordance with a determination that the first characteristic intensity of the touch user input at the first location exceeds the intensity threshold.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device with a touch screen display for photo management is disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device displays an array of thumbnail images corresponding to a set of photographic images. The device replaces the displayed array of thumbnail images with a user-selected photographic image upon detecting a user contact with a corresponding thumbnail image in the array. The user-selected photographic image is displayed at a larger scale than the corresponding thumbnail image. The portable device displays a different photographic image in replacement of the user-selected photographic image in accordance with a scrolling gesture. The scrolling gesture comprises a substantially horizontal movement of user contact with the touch screen display.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to user interfaces for receiving user input. In some examples, a device determines which user input technique a user has accessed most recently, and displays the corresponding user interface. In some examples, a device scrolls through a set of information on the display. When a threshold criteria is satisfied, the device displays an index object fully or partially overlaying the set of information. In some examples, a device displays an emoji graphical object, which is visually manipulated based on user input. The emoji graphical object is transmitted to a recipient. In some examples, a device displays paging affordances that enlarge and allow a user to select a particular page of a user interface. In some examples, the device displays user interfaces for various input methods, including multiple emoji graphical objects. In some examples, a keyboard is displays for receiving user input.
Abstract:
A method, comprising: on a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display, while displaying an application interface of an application: detecting a multitouch edit initiation gesture on the touch screen display; in response to detection of the multitouch edit initiation gesture, displaying a plurality of user-selectable edit option icons in an area of the touch screen display that is independent of a location of the multitouch edit initiation gesture; and displaying a start point object and an end point object to select content displayed by the application in the application interface, wherein one of the start point object and end point object includes a displayed magnifier for showing a magnified image of selected content in the application interface.
