Abstract: Polyurethane (A) based on di-isocyanate, polyether-polyol and at least one monohydric alcohol, thiol or primary or secondary amine, is new. Polyurethane (A) based on di-isocyanate(s), polyether(s) with two active hydrogen atoms and at least one monohydric alcohol, thiol or primary or secondary amine of formula R -Z (I), is new. R = 8-30C alkyl or alkenyl, aryl-(6-22C alkyl) or aryl-(6-22C alkenyl), with alkenyl groups containing 1, 2, 3 or 4 non-adjacent double bonds; Z = OH, SH or NHR , and R = H, 1-6C alkyl or 5-8C cycloalkyl. An Independent claim is included for modifying the rheological properties of homogeneous or heterophase compositions containing water-insoluble compound(s) (B) which are liquid at 20 deg C by mixing and optionally heating with (A).

Abstract: A particle composition (I) contains particles of cross-linked polyvinylprrolidone having a particle size distribution in which as greater than 10 wt.% of particles have a particle size of less than 63 mu m, 0.1-30 wt.% of particles have a particle size greater than 1000 mu m and at least 10 wt.% of particles have a particle size of less than 200 mu m. Independent claims are included for: (i) a compact particulate wash and cleaning agent (II) containing 0.5-20 wt.% of the particle composition (I); (ii) a process for the production of the cleaning agent (II) by mixing 0.5-20 wt.% of the particle composition (I) with the other powdered ingredients; (iii) a process for the production of the particle composition (I) by means of popcorn polymerization by polymerization of a reaction mixture comprising N-vinylpyrrolidone and cross-linking agent in the absence of oxygen and polymerization initiators at upto 200 deg C in substance or using water as a precipitation agent and the particle size the popcorn polymer is controlled by introduction of an inert gas stream into the reaction mixture.
