    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a recording fluid which can give an image excellent in water resistance and light resistance by mixing a pigment with a specified amount of a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent containing a polyalcohol (alkyl ether) and an aliphatic monoalcohol, and water. CONSTITUTION:3-20wt.% water-dispersible pigment (A) (e.g. carbon black) is mixed with a water-soluble resin (B) of en acid value of 50-300 as a dispersant (e.g. styrene/maleic half ester/maleic anhydride copolymer) in such an amount that the weight ratio of component A to component B is (3-10):(2-1) and that the amount of component B not adsorbed by component A is 2 % or below, a water-soluble organic solvent (C) containing 15-50%, based on the recording fluid, polyalcohol (alkyl ether) (e.g. ethylene glycol) and 3-15%, based on the recording fluid, aliphatic monoalcohol (e.g. ethyl alcohol), and 10-60% water (D).

In the formulae, Q1 and Q2 are each an unsubstd. or substd. benzene or naphthalene ring; R1 is H or amino; R2 is H or a sulfonic acid group which has formed a salt with a base; k is 0 or 1; M is a base selected from among an alkali metal, ammonia, and an org. amine; and p is 2-6. Pref. examples of the solvent include water and a mixture comprising water and a water-soluble org. solvent. A solvent comprising water and a polyhydric alcohol is particularly pref.

CONSTITUTION:In forming a color image by using a plurality of inks different in hue, a phthalocyanine dye coordinated with a metal of the Groups II, IV, VII, VIII or a metal-free phthalocyanine dye is used as the dye of cyan ink and a color image formed is covered with a transparent protective member containing at least an ultraviolet absorber. By using the phthalocyanine dye, the lowering in the light fastness of a dye having other hue used together is not generated and, further, by covering the color image with the transparent protective member, the color image extremely excellent in light fastness as a whole can be provided.

PREPARATION:The amine of formula A-NH2 is diazotized with sodium nitrite, etc., in a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid and then coupled with the amine of formula H-B-NH2 to obtain the monoazo compound of formula A-N= N-B-NH2. The monoazo compound is diazotized in the same manner and coupled with the naphthol compound of formula III. The obtained disazo compound of formula IV is diazotized and coupled with m-phenylenediaminesulfonic acid to obtain the objective compound.
