Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably convey an image carrier and perform good fixing by cooling or heating one end of the fixing roller so that the temperature differnces of its both ends become of a specified range. CONSTITUTION:While copying paper 20 is being conveyed by a fixing roller 31 containing a heater 35 in its hollow part and a backup roller 32 turning in contact therewith, the toner images formed on the copying paper 20 are heat fixed. One end of this roller 31 is controlled by cooling with a fan 44 so that its temperature has a difference of the specified range as compared to the temperature of the other end. As a result, the oblique conveying, zigzag conveying, etc. of the copying paper owing to the temperature differences of both ends of the roller 31 are prevented, the copying paper stably conveyed and the toner well fixed. The similar results are also obtained even by heating one end of the fixing roll whose temperature becomes lower than that of the other end.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the volume of a receiving buffer memory and also reduce the load to the host device side by providing a control means for reading a printing data stored in a host device and printing based on address information of a printing data notified by the host device. SOLUTION: A printing system is provided with a personal computer(PC) 101, a scanner 102, a printer 103, a digital camera 104, a hard disk driver(HDD) 105 and an IEEE1394 interface serial bus 106. Respective equipments are controlled by the PC 101 through the IEEE1394 interface serial bus 106, and the scanner 102 is used for inputting an image of a draft. The printer 103 is used for printing on a recording medium such as a paper or the like based on printing start instructions from the PC 101 and the digital camera 104 is used as an image pickup device. The HDD 105 is used for write-read of various kinds of data based on the control of the PC 101.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of the receiving buffer of a printer by reading out print data of a necessary page among print data stored in a storage means according to a print start instruction and performing printing based upon the print data. SOLUTION: A document prepared by using an application program on a PC 101 is generated in the form of document data for printing with a print instruction from a keyboard and stored in the memory of the PC 101. After preparations are made, the PC 101 sends a print start instruction to the printer 103 through an IEEE1394 bus. The printer 103 once receiving the print start instruction from the PC 101 checks a data address table area on the memory of the PC 101 through the IEEE1394 bus. Then the printer 103 reads document data of a desired page to be printed, e.g. a 1st page and then reads document data of the 1st page that its head address indicates in order.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep document data sufficiently secret even when information processors share a printer on a communication network. SOLUTION: When coded data converted by a host computer are inputted to a laser printer, a table command indicating a decoding table is written in the input data and in this case, it is judged whether or not the decoding table indicated by the table command is stored in a coding ROM (S11→S12→S13). Then the coding ROM is previously stored with decoding tables and when there is the decoding table matching the table command among the decoding tables, the decoding table is used to reconvert the coded data into document data (S14), which are printed (S15).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image data processing system in which image processing is conducted in matching with an equipment of transfer source of image data and an image processing circuit in a printer is used as the entire system. SOLUTION: A host computer 1, a reader 2 and a printer 3 are interconnected via an interface bus 4. Each device acts like an initiator when the interface bus 4 is not in use. The host computer 1 or the reader 2 acting like the initiator designates the printer 3 as a target and gives a command of reception and output of image data. The printer 3 designated as the target identifies what equipment a transfer source of image data is. A CPU 301 of the printer 3 sets an image processing method and parameters suitable for the transfer source equipment of image data to a register 331 of an image processing circuit 303. The printer 3 processes the image data received from the initiator and prints out the data. Thus, the printing is conducted by setting the image processing method and parameters suitable for the transfer source equipment of image data.

In the operating the system as a facsimile equipment, the image read from the image scanner 200 is sent to the host device 100, from which the image is sent to a telephone network via a MODEM 400 at transmission and received data are printed out in the same gist as that with the case with the operation of the print system at reception.
