Abstract: The present invention provides a thermal printer which can perform both a heat-sensitive recording operation and a heat-transfer recording operation, comprises a recording medium loading portion for removably receiving a recording medium (11) for the heat-sensitive recording operation and a recording medium for the heat-transfer recording operation; an ink sheet loading portion (70) for removably receiving an ink sheet (14) used with the heat-transfer recording operation; a recording means for recording an image on the recording medium (11); and a control means (101) for energizing the recording means to heat a predetermined number of dots when the image is recorded on the recording medium for the heat-transfer recording operation by means of the recording means and for energizing the recording means to heat a number of dots larger than the predetermined number of dots when the image is recorded on the recording medium for the heat-sensitive recording operation. The present invention also provides a facsimile system comprising the above-mentioned thermal printer, a reading means for reading an original image, and a transmission/reception means for transmitting and receiving an image signal.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a margin for broken character and color mixing by selecting the best suited ink jet head for use in terms of a nozzle hole area from among ink jet heads with different nozzle hole areas according to the shape of a pixel to be formed on an object to be colored, when manufacturing a color filter by discharging an ink from the ink jet heads. SOLUTION: Three ink jet heads 55 to be used for a color filter manufacturing device 90 are provided so that the heads 55 correspond to three primary colors R, G, B. In addition to these ink jet heads 55, the device 90 comprises a heater board for heating the different color inks and a top plate to be placed on the heater board for covering. When manufacturing the color filter, a dot pattern is illuminated by a transmitted light, then is enlarged by a microscope and this enlarged dot pattern is entered to an image processing device through a CCD camera. In the image processing device, an image is binary-coded or processed by other means to seek the diameter or area of the image. Further, it is interpreted whether a state in which dots are spread is appropriate for the actual width (or the actual area) of pixels in the color filter. Next, the hole area of a head nozzle is expanded or shrunk in accordance with the interpretation results.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable image data to be recorded with high image grade and almost without density irregularities by providing a means for detecting the relative positional deviation of plural ink jet heads and a means for detecting an angle of inclination with a scan direction of the ink jet heads. SOLUTION: Each of the nozzle on each of ink jet heads is caused to discharge an ink while moving a head unit for scan relatively with a glass substrate in the X direction to insert an image of line pattern about 50mm long. In addition, a heat pulse of the same pattern is applied to all the heaters of the nozzles and a bit correction is made at an intermediate point (S12). Next, a line sensor camera measures the density of each of the serted images of line pattern while moving for scan relatively with the glass substrate in the Y direction (S13). Further, the ink discharge from each of the nozzles is determined based on the sought density of each of the line patterns (S14). Thus it is possible to obtain data on the irregularities of the ink discharge of each of the nozzles and prevent a color unevenness in a color filter from being generated and avoid the trouble of regulating the relative positions among three ink jet heads.
