Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of carefully saving of power consumption by stopping the drive while keeping a display state as it is, providing an operation mode for putting off a back light and a switch for turning on/off the back light independent of a panel controller. SOLUTION: In a power consumption mode 1, when an idle state is continued for a fixed time more and no input is given by an operator, the mode is shifted to a power consumption mode 2, a back light 212 is put off in addition to the power consumption mode 1, the moreover reduction of power consumption is attained but the last display contents at the time of driving is continuously maintained. Consequently, by putting on the back light by turning on a BL switch 107 by the operator, the displayed contents of the liquid crystal display is temporarily confirmed. Since the BL switch 107 directly turns on/off the power source of a lighting circuit 216, the starting of a CPU 201 in the mode of power consumption is not necessary.

CONSTITUTION: In the display device provided with an NFX controller 101 executing communication with an FLCD interface 2 through an interface cable 311 and displaying information on an FLC panel 150, the NFX controller 101 can perform the operation in a regular display operation mode making light back lights 131-133 lit up and performing a regular display, in a static display operation mode displaying a still image and in a power save operation mode putting out the back lights 131-133, and controls always an LED109 to a lighting state when the regular display operation mode is executed, and makes it flash on/off at a prescribed interval when the static display operation mode and the power save operation mode are operated.

Besides, the display part 2 is attached to the fitting member 4 through a tilt mechanism for holding the posture of the display part 2 by an optional angle from the prescribed posture in the front and back directions thereof.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To execute the uniform lighting of a surface with high luminance and also to prevent sanded texture caused by a dropping impulse test from being caused by making a light scattering body contact in terms of surface with an optical transmitting body through an optical screen and fixing it on the optical transmitting body. CONSTITUTION:A light source 101 is arranged in a hollow part formed in the optical transmitting body 107 and the light scattering body 104 is arranged between the light source 101 and an object to be lighted. The optical transmitting body 107 is formed of a solid body which propagates a light beam 108 projected from the light source 101 to the light scattering body 104 and its hollow part is provided in the effective lighted area E of the object to be lighted. And the light scattering body 104 is made to contact in terms of surface with the light transmitting body 107 through the optical screen 103 and fixed to be in contact with it, so that the light scattering body 104 is not vibrated even in case of accepting the dropping impulse. Thus, the uniform lighting of the surface with high luminance can be executed and also the impulse given to a ferroelectric liquid crystal display panel 106 can be reduced.
