Abstract:
Described herein, are films, compositions containing the films and methods of preparing a dentifrice comprising the films, wherein the films contain a low solubility flavorant.
Abstract:
Methods of preparing a dentifrice comprising polymer matrix film with a low solubility flavorant therein are disclosed. The methods comprise combining a polymer matrix film that are free of a low solubility flavorant with a dentifrice base comprising a low solubility flavorant and maintaining the combined polymer matrix film with the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant for an amount of time sufficient for an amount of a low solubility flavorant to transfer from the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant to the polymer matrix film Products comprising low solubility flavorant-free polymer matrix film in a dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Generally regarded as safe (GRAS) dyes can be used as photosensitizing dyes in oral compositions to provide anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory efficacy. Embodiments include oral care compositions including photosensitizing dyes, methods of making the compositions, methods of using the compositions, and kits containing the compositions and light emitting devices.
Abstract:
An oral carrier strip for the delivery of an oral care composition to the oral cavity of a human or animal subject is provided. The strip includes a first portion adapted to contact a front facing side of a plurality of teeth. A second portion is provided to be folded around the teeth so as to contact a back facing side of the teeth. The first portion has a first perimeter patterned to substantially match a shape of an outer gingival tissue, and the second portion has a second perimeter opposite the first perimeter and patterned to match a shape of an inner gingival tissue. The second perimeter defines an aperture disposed in the second portion having a rounded notch positioned in a center portion of the strip, configured to prevent the strip from tearing when folded around the teeth.
Abstract:
Skin moisturizing formulations which can be administered in the bath or shower, depositing a thin layer of moisturizing agents on application, which is not rinsed off but remains to protect the skin from drying, resulting in smoother, softer skin feel; the formulations comprising polyvalent metal cations and fatty acids, which react on application in the shower or bath to form a thin deposit of insoluble salts, thereby enhancing the retention of moisturizing oils and conditioning agents.
Abstract:
Tooth-whitening films comprising a hydratable polymer and a whitening agent are disclosed in which the films have a hydrophobic coating on one surface and a tooth-adherent coating on the opposing surface. Flavorings can also be included in the hydratable polymer portion of the film or in either the hydrophobic coating or the tooth-adherent coating. Tooth-whitening methods that use the films are also disclosed. The hydratable polymer preferably is a polyethylene oxide.
