Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polycaprolactone resin composition which is excellent in moldability and gives a molding excellent in bending strength, dimensional stability, etc., by blending two specified polycaprolactone resins of different relative viscosities at a specified weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:A polycaprolactone resin composition is produced by blending a polycaprolactone resin of a relative viscosity of 1.5-2.8 with another polycaprolactone resin of a relative viscosity of 1.15-1.5 at a weight ratio of 85/15-30/70. The obtained resin composition has a softening point of 50-60 deg.C and excellent functions which cannot be attained when the resins are used alone and can be suitably used as a plastic clay, a medical gypsum, a splint material, or the like. When an epi-bis epoxy resin is used as part of an initiator in producing the polycaprolactone resin by the addition polymerization of a lactone monomer through ring opening, the hydrolysis resistance can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin having excellent water resistance, oil resistance and bleed resistance, by using a lactone modified polyol prepared by subjecting active hydrogen-containing organic dye and a lactone to ring formation and addition polymerization. CONSTITUTION:First, 1mol. organic dye shown by the formula R-(A-X)n (R is organic dyestuff group selected from azo, anthraquinone and triarylmethane; A is polyalkylene oxide or copolymer thereof, the alkylene part of A is >=2C and A has 44-1,500mol.wt.; n is 1-6 integer; X is OH, NH2 or SH) is reacted with >=2mol. 4-8C lactone to give a colored lactone modified polyol. Then (A) the lactone modified polyol is reacted with (B) an organic diisocyanate and (C) a short-chained diol or amine as a chain extender to give the aimed polymer.

CONSTITUTION: 1mol adduct 2,2'bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dibromophenyl)propane shown by the formula I (R is H, or methyl; m and n are 1-2) with an alkylene oxide is reacted with ≥2mol 4W8C lactone (e.g., γ-butyrolactone) to give a novel lactone modified diol shown by the formula II (Y is residue obtained by removal of ester bond from 4W8C lactone; p and q are constants fixed by amount of lactone). The lactone modified diol is different from a type to add a flame retardant, and as it has a flame-retardant component linked in the molecule, it neither causes blooming nor damages other characteristics.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyurethane improved in adhesiveness as a hot melt adhesive, by specifying the content of a polycaprolactone polyol component in a polyurethane resin formed of an organic polyisocyanate. CONSTITUTION:The content of a polycaprolactone polyol component in a polyurethane resin obtained by reacting polycaprolactone polyol of a number-average MW of 1,000-100,000 with an organic polyisocyanate is specified at 60-98wt%. When this content is below 60wt%, crystallinity inherent in the polycaprolactone polyol is completely lost. On the contrary, when it is above 98wt%, the characteristics of adhesiveness can not be improved. The polycaprolactone polyol is obtained by polymerizing, by ring opening, epsilon-caprolactone by using an initiator such as a polyalcohol. Examples of the organic polyisocyanates used include 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanates.

CONSTITUTION:(B) A lactone (preferably epsilon-caprolactone, etc.) is polymerized through ring opening in the presence of a catalyst such as an organotin compound, etc. by the use of (A) a polybutadiene polyol (preferably hydroxyl terminal polybutadiene oligomer having 35-70 hydroxyl number, etc.), to give the desired polymer. The reaction is preferably carried out at 160-180 deg.C.
