    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in an organic substance by ultraviolet rays in a discharge space, and prevent impurity gas from mixing in the discharge space from the outside by consisting barrier-rib, a back substrate or both of them of an organic substance that has a specified resistivity and an elastic modulus, and by covering the surface of the discharge space side of the organic substance by an inorganic dielectric substance material. SOLUTION: Barrier-rib, a back substrate, or both of them consist of an organic substance that has a resistivity of 100 MPa or more and an elastic modulus of 105 Ω.cm or more. An address electrode 2 is formed on a substrate 1 with patterning by a deposition method and a photolithography method. Photo resists are laminated on the substrate 1 so as to cover the address electrode 2 to expose and develop, and barrier-rib 3 that consist of the organic substance are formed. A solution, which is dissolved stearic acid magnesium to toluene, is coated on the substrate 1. Subsequently, by radiating the desired ultraviolet rays with the toluene evaporating, a surface of the substrate 1 between the barrier-rib 3, 3 of the organic substance is covered by a layer 4 of an inorganic dielectric material. The substrates 1, are opposed to each other, and surroundings of them are sealed with frit glass 6 to form a PDP.
