Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for exhaust treatment capable of effectively reducing and removing a specific ingredient contained in exhaust, by satisfactorily mixing the exhaust with a reducing agent added to the exhaust, while maintaining a pressure loss low, with a simple, compact and an inexpensive constitution.
SOLUTION: A metallic catalyst 20 is disposed on the upstream side of a urea SCR catalyst device 6 on the downstream side of an aqueous urea solution ejection nozzle 5A disposed in a connection part 12. The metallic catalyst 20 carries a urea SCR catalyst on a surface of a carrier of a metallic honeycomb structure. The metallic catalyst 20 is readily affected by the exhaust temperature and well follows changes in the exhaust temperature. Consequently, the temperature of the carrier increases in a short time upon reception of heat of the exhaust to accelerate hydrolysis of urea into ammonia and accelerate mixing of the exhaust with the reducing agent. As a result, efficiency of NOx reduction can be effectively heightened. Since the metallic catalyst 20 has the urea SCR catalyst deposited thereon, NOx contained in the exhaust can be removed even when the temperature is still low.
