Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for a hair dye having high coloring ability to hair, low in color fading with time and low in change of color tone when storing. SOLUTION: This composition for hair dye includes direct dyes of formulas (1), (2), (3) or (4). [R1 and R1' are each a (substituted) alkyl group or a (substituted) aryl group. W and W' are each a group expressed by -A-NR2R3 or a (substituted)heterocyclic aromatic group. A and A' are each a (substituted) divalent aryl group. R2, R2' and R3 are each H, a (substituted) alkyl group or a (substituted) aryl group or R2, R2' or R3 bond with A or A', or R2, R3 or R2, R2' jointly form heterocycles by bonding with neighboring atoms. R4-R6 are each H, a (substituted) alkyl group or a (substituted) alkenyl group. Q is a divalent organic group. X is a modified carboxylic group, -SO2-T group (T is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an aryl group) or a heterocyclic group. Y is -CN or a heterocyclic group. Z is a cationic group. An- is an anion].
