Abstract:
An optical fiber system that includes an in-fiber optic component powered by in-fiber light includes an optical fiber having a core, wherein the optical fiber propagates a sensing/signal light and a power light, with the sensing/signal light being propagated in the core. An optical transducing element, such as a layer of light absorbing material, is located in proximity to the in-fiber optic component. An optical tap region is provided in the optical fiber in proximity to the optical transducing element, and enables the power light to leak from the optical fiber and be absorbed by the optical transducing element. The optical transducing element converts the absorbed power light into a second energy form, such as heat, which is used to tune the in-fiber optic component.
Abstract:
An automated retirement plan manager manages the assets of an employee retirement benefits plan on behalf of an employer. The plan manager executes trades on investment vehicles based on instructions from an automated independent investment advisor. The advisor calculates a human capital for each plan participant based on data derived from the employer and from the participant through an interface, and based on that human capital calculation recommends an allocation of portfolio assets to the participant. This recommendation, once presented for review by and perhaps modified by the participant, becomes an instruction to the plan manager. As the participant ages his or her human capital is recalculated, and this is used to determine whether the participant's present portfolio type should now be switched to a more conservative one.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for storefront recognition are provided. A surveyor or other user can access an application implemented on a computing device. A source image of a storefront of an entity can be captured by the surveyor using an image capture device (e.g. a digital camera). A feature matching process can be used to compare the source image against a plurality of candidate images of storefronts in the geographic area and return a list of the candidate images with the closest match. Each candidate image returned by the application can be annotated with a similarity score indicative of the similarity of the source image with the candidate image. The surveyor can use the similarity scores and the candidate images to determine whether the store has been previously investigated. The user can interact with the application to indicate whether the entity seeds to be investigated.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a communication apparatus with multiple antenna sets installed on the radio interface between the communication apparatus and on-land base station, and a mobility method for the communication apparatus. In some embodiments, a communication apparatus may include a first antenna and a second antenna separated with a distance; and a digital unit connected to the first and second antennas and configured to support at least one backhaul context with the first antenna and at least another backhaul context with the second antenna at the same time.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method is described, by which a component carrier configuration, re-configuration, activation or de-activation is performed. In particular, a signaling format used for acknowledgment/negative acknowledgement messages on an uplink control channel is detected, and a codebook size of the acknowledgment/negative acknowledgement messages is decided based on the detected signaling format.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of modifying electrical properties of carbon nanotubes by subjecting a composition of carbon nanotubes to one or more radical initiator(s). The invention also relates to an electronic component such as field-effect transistor comprising a carbon nanotube obtained using the method of the invention. The invention also relates to the use of the modified carbon nanotubes in conductive and high-strength nanotube/polymer composites, transparent electrodes, sensors and nanoelectromechanical devices, additives for batteries, radiation sources, semiconductor devices (e.g. transistors) or interconnects.
Abstract:
A method for mapping each radio bearer over Uu interface to a corresponding radio bearer over Un interface of a relay device in a wireless communication network is provided. The method comprises: creating a first context for a User Equipment (UE) with original IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) of the UE at the Uu interface of the relay device, creating a second context for the UE with an allocated relay identity at the Un interface of the relay device, wherein the allocated relay identity is allocated based on the original IMSI of the UE, forming a relationship between the first context and the second context based on the relationship between the original IMSI and the allocated relay identity, and mapping the radio bearer over the Uu interface to the radio bearer over the Un interface based on the relationship between the first context and the second context.
Abstract:
A melt-spun highly oriented and crystalline thermoplastic filament or fiber having a tenacity of at least about 10 g/d, an elongation less than about 15-%, and a modulus of at least about 130 g/d. A method of making highly oriented and crystalline thermoplastic filaments has been developed that comprises extruding a thermoplastic polymer to form at least one molten filament. The at least one molten filament is introduced into a horizontal liquid isothermal bath. The bath is maintained at a temperature between the glass transition temperature and the melting temperature of the thermoplastic polymer. The bath increases the tension along the molten filament to form at least one partially oriented and low crystalline filament. The partially oriented filament is drawn to form the highly oriented and crystalline filament.
Abstract:
A user's downlink component carriers DL-CCs are divided into groups. An aperiodic CQI/PMI report is triggered by signaling (for example one bit). There is a pattern that maps the signaled trigger to a particular DL-CC within a group of DL-CCs that are configured for a user equipment UE, and that mapped particular DL-CC is determined to be the subject of the aperiodic report. In various embodiments the pattern is implicit and points to the DL-CC for which an aperiodic report has not been sent for more than a threshold time interval; or to the DL-CC for which resources have not been allocated for a periodic report; or to every DL-CC in the group that are activated for the user equipment. Examples are detailed for apparatus, method and computer program from the perspective of the network and from the perspective of the UE.
