    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for providing support for location and emergency calls for an over-the-top (OTT) service provider (SP) are disclosed. An access network node receives a first message from a UE, determines a location reference for the UE, and sends a second message including the location reference to the UE. The access network node may determine the location reference itself on behalf of a location server or may request the location server to assign and return the location reference. The access network node may serve as a proxy and avoid interaction between the UE and the location server. The location server may later receive a location request for the UE from a network entity wherein the location request includes the location reference. The location server may locate the UE using the location reference and return the UE location to the network entity.

    Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for limiting a size of LTE Positioning Protocol (LPP) messages in a location session between a user equipment and location server. In one embodiment, a first device sends a first LPP message to a second device, indicating that the first device is capable of receiving segmented LPP messages. Subsequently, the first device receives a plurality of LPP message segments from the second device comprising one or more non-final LPP message segments and a final LPP message segment, where each LPP message segment includes a "non-final" or "final" indication. The first device stores the non-final LPP message segments and processes the LPP message segments after receiving the final LPP message segment. Prior to sending the first LPP message, the first device may receive an LPP message from the second device indicating the second device is capable of sending segmented LPP messages.

    Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) that is using Narrowband Internet of Things radio access or Cellular Internet of Things features to access a wireless network. The techniques include enabling support for a last known location of a UE, using previously obtained location measurements, when a UE is not reachable from a wireless network for positioning. The techniques also include limiting positioning protocol interaction between a UE and a location server via a reduced maximum message size, reduced message volume and longer response and retransmission timers. The techniques further include enabling a UE to obtain location measurements when not connected to a wireless network, enabling periodic and triggered location of a UE in which a UE evaluates location triggers while not connected to a wireless network, enabling use of deferred location and enabling improved location security.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for increasing the reliability of transferring data via in-band signaling in a audio channel of a communication network. Techniques include causing an audio decoding process to modify the decoding of audio signals for the audio channel based on obtaining an indication of in-band signaling. The modified decoding may replace an adaptive de-jitter buffer by a static de-jitter buffer or increase the buffering time of an adaptive de-jitter buffer. The decoded audio signals may be provided to an in-band message detector, an audio encoder or an audio playback device based on the indication of in-band signaling. The techniques may be employed by a user equipment, a media gateway control function or a media gateway to improve the reliability of in-band transfer of a minimum set of data (MSD) for a Next Generation eCall.

    Abstract: In aspects of the disclosure, a method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) are provided. In one aspect, the UE associates with an access point of a wireless local area network which may be untrusted, obtains a list comprising a plurality of public land mobile network (PLMN) entries and one or more selection conditions associated with each one of the plurality of PLMN entries, and selects a PLMN from the list when the one or more selection conditions associated with the PLMN are satisfied. The UE may further discover an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG) for the selected PLMN using one or more fully qualified domain name (FQDN) rules for the selected PLMN. The UE may then attach to the selected PLMN using the discovered ePDG.
