In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive scheduling information for a transmission associated with a particular radio access technology (RAT) of a 4G RAT or a 5G RAT, wherein the scheduling information identifies a particular resource of one of a first set of resources for the 4G RAT or a second set of resources for the 5G RAT, wherein one or more resources of the first set of resources are guaranteed for the 4G RAT based at least in part on a reference 4G time division duplexing (TDD) configuration, and wherein the one or more resources of the first set of resources and the second set of resources do not overlap in a time domain; and transmit or receive the transmission using the particular resource.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuration aspects of a tracking reference signal in New Radio. A base station may select a first burst duration and a second burst duration for a tracking reference signal (TRS) burst, the first burst duration being different from the second burst duration, and may transmit configuration information indicating the first burst duration and the second burst duration to a user equipment (UE). The base station may transmit a first TRS burst having the first burst duration and a second TRS burst having the second burst duration. The UE may detect the first TRS burst having the first burst duration and the second TRS burst having the second burst duration based at least in part on the configuration information, and perform resource tracking based at least in part on the detected first TRS burst and the second TRS burst.

A network access device may select a search space configuration for transmission of group(s) of one or more control channel elements (CCEs) to convey a downlink control information (DCI) message. The search space configuration may include a cross-coreset configuration, such as a cross-control channel subband configuration, a cross-symbol configuration, and/or a cross-beam configuration. The network access device may transmit the DCI message according to the selected search space configuration. A user equipment (UE) may monitor, based on the search space configuration, the group(s) of one or more CCEs to detect DCI messages. The UE may detect a DCI message for it and decode the DCI message based on the monitoring. Numerous other aspects are provided.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes various aspects of the implementation and design of Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) in 5G new radio (NR) applications. Aspects include methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable medium for one or more of multiple PDCCH search spaces, control resource block (CRB), irregular multiple slots or mini-slots grants, or fast control channel signaling for grant-free uplink (UL). For example, different scheduling entities can each have one or two search spaces defined (e.g., common and/or user equipment (UE)-centric search spaces). Also, CRBs can be used as units for PDCCH transmission instead of resource element groups/control channel elements (REGs/CCEs). In addition, irregularities in time domain, frequency domain, or both can be introduced in the granting of resource blocks (RBs) over multiple slots or mini-slots. Moreover, signaling can be used to indicate to a UE configured for grant-free UL the portion of the pool of resources available for grant-free UL.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communications utilizing discontinuous reception (DRX). Disclosed methods and apparatus include providing a grant indicator in a transmission from a base station to a user equipment (UE), where indicator notifies the UE of a grant of data during a subsequent discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle in the at least one UE. Additionally, a tracking reference signal (TRS), which may be aperiodic (A-TRS), is transmitted prior to an on-duration time of the DRX cycle, where the TRS is usable by the UE for updating a tracking loop and also can be referenced by the indicator. In this manner, the combination of the grant indicator and the TRS affords a UE sufficient time for updating a UE tracking loop before the DRX cycle. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
