Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A network device, such as a base station, may transmit a set of reference symbols to a user equipment (UE). Each set of reference symbols may include two (or more) beamformed signals. The network device may receive, based on the set of reference symbols, a measurement report from the UE. The measurement report may include a co-phasing indicator associated with the set of reference symbols. The network device may identify, based at least in part on the measurement report, an antenna port precoder configuration to use for communicating with the UE.

An indication may be provided to a user equipment (UE) in each slot that indicates a presence or absence of a reference signal transmission in the slot.

Abstract: A wireless device of the present disclosure may be able to reduce the time needed to determine a subarray and/or beamforming direction used for mmW communication. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In one aspect, the apparatus may maintain first information associated with a correlation between each of a plurality of wireless device positions and wireless device orientations and a plurality of nodes, at least one subarray, and a corresponding beamforming direction. In another aspect, the apparatus may transmit the first information associated with the correlation to a plurality of nodes.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a discovery signal transmitted from a connection point (CP) via a directional beam. The discovery signal may include first information (including beam sweep configuration information) related to the CP. The apparatus then transmits an association signal to the CP based on the beam sweep configuration information and monitors for a resource grant from the CP based on the transmitted association signal. Alternatively, the apparatus transmits a discovery signal via a directional beam to a user equipment (UE). The discovery signal may include first information (including beam sweep configuration information) related to the apparatus. The apparatus then receives an association signal from the UE based on the beam sweep configuration information and determines a resource grant for communicating with the UE based on the received association signal.

Some examples provide for identifying a primary synchronization signal (PSS) sequence of a synchronization subframe, determining, for the synchronization subframe, an extended synchronization signal (ESS) sequence based at least in part on the PSS sequence and transmitting the synchronization subframe. Other examples provide for generating an ESS sequence for a synchronization subframe to be communicated to a UE, scrambling the ESS sequence based at least in part on cell-specific information associated with the base station and transmitting, to the UE, the scrambled ESS sequence in the synchronization subframe.

Abstract: In wireless communication systems that support 5th generation wireless systems (5G) or New Radio (NR) protocols, subframes used for communication may have different numerology options. Numerology options may refer to the characteristics of the subframe such as a tone spacing within each symbol of the subframe, a symbol duration for each symbol of the subframe, a number of symbols in the subframe, etc. A subframe may include a control channel (e.g., the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH)) and a data channel (e.g., the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH)). In an aspect, the control channel and the data channel within the subframe may have different numerologies. As such, a need exists to signal the numerology of the subframe to users and to determine whether and how to multiplex the control channel and the data channel into the subframe.

Abstract: A UE may receive a directional synchronization subframe from a base station and transmit a scheduling request to the base station during a time period based on the directional synchronization subframe. The scheduling request may enable a base station to grant the UE resources to send a buffer status report (BSR). The time period may be associated with a random access channel (RACH) time period. The UE may also transmit a scheduling request within a frequency region of the RACH time period. The scheduling request may be transmitted based on a received indication of a set of subcarrier, a cyclic shift, or a sequence index. In some examples, the resources used by the UE to send the BSR may include physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) or physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to communicating different symbols with different types of cyclic prefixes. For example, a first symbol may have a first type of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) cyclic prefix while a second symbol (e.g., immediately following the first symbol) may have a second type of OFDM cyclic prefix. In scenarios where a cyclic prefix does not include any chips (samples), the beamforming configuration for a transmitter can be changed during the cyclic prefix. At the receiver, the cyclic prefix is reconstructed based on the chips (samples) received during the symbol.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) may include receiving a beam training sequence transmitted by a network access device on a plurality of transmit beams, identifying, based at least in part on the received beam training sequence, one or more sets of multiple beams that are compatible with at least one configuration for routing signals between antenna subarrays of the UE and transceiver units (TXRUs) of the UE, and transmitting, to the network access device, an indication of the identified one or more sets of multiple beams. A method for wireless communication at the network device may include transmitting the beam training sequence, receiving the indication, and selecting, based at least in part on the received indication, a set of multiple beams of the one or more sets of multiple beams to use to communicate with the UE.
