Abstract:
Various aspects of the disclosure relate to communicating random access information and uplink control information. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) or other suitable apparatus transmits physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) information concurrently with random access channel (RACH) information transmitted by another UE or other apparatus. For example, the RACH access information and the PUCCH information may be frequency division multiplexed orthogonal tones. The disclosure relates in some aspects to using downlink-uplink (DL-UL) channel reciprocity to determine symbol and/or tone locations. For example, a base station or other suitable apparatus may initially sweep across different directions in different time slots to transmit signals during a synchronization sub-frame. A UE or other suitable apparatus can then find an appropriate RACH symbol from its best synchronization beam index and transmit PUCCH information in those symbols.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for wireless communication at a base station. The base station may transmit a control message to a set of user equipments (UEs) using a directional transmission having a first beamform width. The base station may exchange, according to the control message, data messages with a first UE of the set of UEs using a directional transmission having a second beamform width. The second beamform width may be different from the first beamform width. The base station may exchange, according to the control message, data messages with a second UE of the set of UEs using a directional transmission having a third beamform width. The third beamform width may be different from the first beamform width, the second beamform width, or both.
Abstract:
Described herein are methods, systems, and apparatus for jointly estimating channel and phase noise in a control symbol. In one example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes inserting a control tone at a first periodicity in a first subcarrier of a control symbol and inserting a pilot tone at a second periodicity in a second subcarrier of the control symbol, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes transmitting the control symbol. In another example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes receiving a control symbol comprising a control tone at a first periodicity, and a pilot tone at a second periodicity, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes performing a phase noise estimation and a channel estimation from the pilot tone.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A serving base station may transmit a signal to user equipment (UE) using directional beamforming. The UE may receive the transmission from the serving base station and may also receive a signal from a neighbor base station using directional beamforming. The UE may then generate an interference report based on the two transmissions, and send report to the serving base station. The serving base station may generate a local interference graph based on the interference report, exchange interference information with the neighbor base station(s), and schedule subsequent transmissions to the UE based on the exchanged interference information. In some cases, the scheduling is based on distributed information exchange and prioritization. In other cases, the scheduling may be managed by a centralized controller.
Abstract:
Method, systems, and apparatuses are described for discovery operations in a millimeter wave wireless communication system. A first base station of the millimeter wave wireless communication system may determine a timing parameter and a propagation parameter associated with a second base station of the millimeter wave wireless communication system. The first base station may perform a discovery procedure with the second base station based at least in part on the timing parameter and the propagation parameter. At least a portion of the discovery procedure may be performed wirelessly via the millimeter wave wireless communication system. The first base station may establish a backhaul communication link with the second base station based on the discovery procedure.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for directional synchronization signal signals in a millimeter wave communication system. A user equipment (UE) may receive a narrowband signal component of a synchronization signal for the millimeter wave communications. The narrowband signal component may include correlation information. The UE may use the correlation information to identify a wideband signal component of the synchronization signal for the millimeter wave communications. The UE may search frequencies associated with a first frequency location determined from the correlation information to identify and detect the wideband signal component of the synchronization signal.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for beamforming in a wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines a beamforming direction and a SNR of at least two user equipments (UEs) and determines whether to schedule communication with the at least two UEs during a same time interval via a single communication beam based on the beamforming directions and the SNRs of the at least two UEs. When the communication with the at least two UEs during the same time interval via the single communication beam is scheduled, the apparatus allocates bandwidth resources respectively among the at least two UEs, sizes a width of the single communication beam to encompass the beamforming directions of the at least two UEs, and communicates with one or more of the at least two UEs during the same time interval via a respectively allocated bandwidth resource using the sized single communication beam.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for operating a user equipment (UE) are provided. The apparatus receives first information from a first millimeter-wave base station (mwB), determines second information based on the received first information, and transmits the second information to at least one other mwB. The first information and the second information are related to synchronization and/or a network state between the first mwB and the at least one other mwB.
Abstract:
Efficient methods for wirelessly communicating file content under varying conditions are described. A wireless device determines, based on mobility and/or geographic location, if the wireless device is to operate in a first mode of communication operation in which received portions of said file are re-transmitted or a second mode of communication operation in which combinations of portions of said file are transmitted. The wireless device transmits packets communicating received file portions when it is determined that the wireless device is to operate in said first mode of operation and transmits packets communicating combinations of file portions, e.g., linear combinations of file portions, when it is determined that the wireless device is to operate in said second mode of operation. The contents of a file may be obtained from some packets which communicate distinct portions of the file and other packets which communicate combinations of distinct portions of the file.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for expedited Internet content delivery. For example, there is provided a method that involves receiving, at a communication device, a broadcast transmission outside of a spectrum allocated for Internet communications and outside of a spectrum allocated for real time programming content, wherein the broadcast transmission includes unsolicited content pushed to a group of such communication devices. The method may involve storing a portion of the unsolicited content, and receiving a request for content from a user. The method may involve providing the portion of the unsolicited content to the user, in response to the requested content matching the portion. The method nay involve determining whether the requested content is stored on another communication device of the group, in response to the requested content not matching the portion.
