Abstract:
A base station for communicating with multiple groups of wireless communication devices is described. The base station includes a processor and executable instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The base station determines a number of wireless communication devices. The base station also splits the number of wireless communication devices into groups. The base station further determines a precoding matrix for each group. The base station additionally transmits a beamformed signal to each group using the precoding matrix for each group.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating packets having a plurality of formats are described herein. In some aspects, a signal (SIG) field in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether an extension field, such as an extension SIG field or SIG-B field, is included in the packet. In another aspect, one or more detectors may be used to auto-detect packets formatted as one of at least two different formats based on a short training field (STF) of a received packet. In some aspects, along training field (LTF) in the preamble of a packet may indicate whether the payload is repetition coded.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for generating a unified format of channel state information (CSI) feedback for Very High Throughput (VHT) wireless systems. One example method generally includes generating, at a first apparatus, a frame comprising information relating to SNR if a second apparatus is communicating with the first apparatus using single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO) or multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) and transmitting a signal based on the generated frame to the second apparatus. Another example method generally includes generating, at an apparatus, a structure comprising CSI, wherein the CSI includes one of a first matrix with estimates of a channel associated with the apparatus or a second matrix obtained based on singular value decomposition (SVD) of the first matrix and wherein the structure further comprises an indication of which of the first and second matrices is included in the CSI; and transmitting the structure over the channel.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for communicating Channel State Information (CSI) feedback. In some aspects, the CSI feedback is communicated in a very high throughput (VHT) wireless communications system.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for medium reservation in the case of multi-user (MU) communications. Multiple mechanisms are supported for protecting MU transmissions, wherein appropriate control messages can be exchanged between an access point and served user stations before transmitting downlink data packets. In particular an apparatus (1202) for wireless communications, comprising: a transmitter configured to transmit a confirmation message (1206) announcing reservation of a medium for data communication during a time period, wherein the transmitter is also configured to transmit, subsequent to the transmission of confirmation message, data (1208) over the medium simultaneously to a plurality of apparatuses (1204 1-3 ) during the time period.
Abstract:
Techniques and apparatus for controlling the transmit power of an uplink (UL) signal from a user terminal in a wireless communications system in an effort to achieve some target characteristic, such as a target carrier- to- interference (C/I) ratio, at an access point (AP) are provided. The method comprises: receiving a plurality of uplink signals, determining power of the received plurality of UL signals; determining adjustment information for a UL signal in the plurality of UL signals based on at least the power of the received UL signals and a target carrier- to- interference (C/l) ratio; and transmitting the adjustment information. The user terminal and the AP may compose part of a multiple - input multiple - output (MIMO) communication system utilizing spatial - division multiple access (SDMA) techniques.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for scheduling simultaneous communications of multiple pairs of wireless nodes in a wireless network.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for signalling common user parameters in Very High Throughput (VHT) wireless systems. Disclosed are methods (and corresponding apparatus) for wireless communications, comprising: generating a preamble with at least one signal (SIG) field in a portion of the preamble associated with a first radio access technology, wherein the SIG fields comprise parameter bits indicating control information common to a plurality of apparatuses operating in accordance with a second radio access technology; and transmitting the preamble within a frame to the plurality of apparatuses.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for performing interference suppression in spatial division multiple access (SDMA) systems. When the number of receive antennas of a receiver is equal or larger than the number of spatial streams intended for the receiver, the receiver may perform interference suppression on the signals received on all of its antennas. In addition, certain aspects of the present disclosure present a flexible SDMA technique in which a plurality of channel estimates that may be received from an explicit feedback or estimated implicitly, are combined. The combined channel estimate may be used in calculating the SDMA weights.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product operable in a wireless communication system are provided in which an access probe is generated for transmission to a wireless node. A first signal is generated for transmission to the wireless node. The first signal includes information corresponding to a first preferred beam pattern from the wireless node to the apparatus. A second signal is received from the wireless node including information corresponding to a second preferred beam pattern from the apparatus to the wireless node. The second preferred beam pattern is determined based on the access probe. The apparatus communicates with the wireless node using at least one of the first preferred beam pattern or the second preferred beam pattern.
