Abstract: A pressure modulator for an artificial blood circuit, including at least one readily deformable wall forming a blood chamber having inlet and outlet ducts and a pair of substantially rigid plates arranged one on either side of said blood chamber, pulsation chambers disposed on the sides of said rigid plates remote from the blood chamber and a fluid pulse generator connected to the pulsation chambers, the rigid plates forming part of a rigid plate exchanger such as a haemodialyser, an artificial lung or a heat exchanger, the pulses inducing slight flexing of the plates and thus pulsing of the liquid in the blood chamber.

Abstract: A duct for the removal of biological liquids, especially urine, in the form of a tubular body having internal and external surfaces, at least, of silicone elastomer. Near its upper end, e.g., for connection to a ureter, the body is surrounded by a woven or knitted textile sheath, which is secured by silicone elastomer adhesive to the body and is used as a suturing member for securing the duct to the ureter. Abstract: A device for purging gas bubbles from a liquid in which a wall is arranged to form a passageway, at least half of the wall being in the form of a hydrophobic porous membrane having a pore size between 0.01 to 30 mu . The liquid flows parallel to the membrane in a passageway between 0.5 and 10 mm maximum thickness and the gas escapes through the pores. The membrane may be formed into a tube and may act as a connector between two lengths of piping, the gas escaping between the ends of the piping. In another construction the device is in the form of a sachet having an intermediate impermeable wall, the liquid being caused to flow parallel to the sides of the wall of the sachet.
